Out for Christmas, if you fancy it
Announced early March by Microsoft here at simFlight under the brandname Adrenaline, the Microsoft's official add-on for FSX - developed by Aces Studios - will be Acceleration Expansion Pack. Unveiled at E3 in Los Angeles, the content is confirmed with 3 new aircrafts (P-51D Mustang, F/A-18A Hornet, and helo EH-101), more than 20 new missions (multiplayers interactive), four modes of races "Aerobatic Style", "Reno High-Speed", "Cross-Country" and "Sailplane" with three skill levels, and enhanced visuals using Vista and DX10 (if you have !).

Lets see ....happy with FS9, check: have a selection of Merlins, check: have some very nice Hornets, check: have more Mustangs than I can shake a stick at, check:

No thanks Trev, think I'll save my pennies for something else!

An F-18 would be lovely at the standard of the current default FSX aircraft!

Of course, this isn't really the forum to be discussing the Hornet on...

F-18s don't excite me. Guess I've seen too many. The Merlin does though for different reasons. :worried: But I always consider the default aircraft included to simply be working extensions of the SDK. So I'm interested in the new features and instruments this will provide to developers.

Apparently a working aircraft carrier is also to be included - proper cat launches and traps! Best of all it will (allegedly) be easy for 3rd party developers to get to grips with doing their own ships using the same cat and trap utility. Perhaps we don't need FD4 after all (would be good news if true).

Regards,
Chris

EH101 merlin

i would find that of particular interest

one assumes they are doing the SAR version (for those helecopter missions) probally the candian varient, the danish TTT varient would be a bit complex for FS

I wouldn't get too excited buy the 101, it will be OK, but of a similar standard to the other default aircraft. As has already been mentioned the good stuff is what this will mean for the SDK, with landable AI carriers, and hopefully new rotary flight dynamics etc, all of which mean an updated sdk, which means the real developers can start pushing the boundrys once again. :yipeee:

Having just spent 2 weeks in 'Proper' Merlinland (RN Merlins that is) I won't be holding my breath either although the default Bell has come on in leaps and bounds with FSX. I read last week in either Computer Shopper.. MicroMart or PC Plus that DX10 has more overheads than the National Health Service (my comparison, not theirs) and that it really won't come into it's own until the OS after Vista :o Not much there to get worked up about me thinks
