The reason is very obvious in the touch down phase - the bloody great cargo door in the aft fueslage is open and flapping around in the breeze

I thought that was the paintjob.

Looks like that may have caused a little bit of damage to the undercarriage to say the least.

Spot of déjà vu here, although I guess not everyone will have seen this the last time it came up as it was buried in the middle of the following thread: http://cbfsim.org/cbfsimv5/cbfsbb/viewtopic.php?t=10437

Interesting vid non the less.

Tonks : I think with respect you are being a little harsh there. It seems to me that the door would shield the left side of the horizontal tailplane in the latter part of the approach, reducing the downforce on the tail by up to 50% and thus creating an unstable nose down pitching moment which would be very difficult indeed to control, as we saw from the pitching oscillation which was set up

Am I missing something here? I know I'm no spring chicken but I can't see any door flapping about. The black mark on the rear of the Aircraft is paint. :dunno:

This was discussed a long time ago on PPrune. As I recall (correctly or not) it was a training flight, and the student got it wrong. Also, I think they both received back injuries.

I suppose the moral of the story is that if it isn't right, go around!

Hi James,

am I going mad or did you fail to see the flapping cargo door? :dunno:
