Real live rescue 56K warning

This took place in 1991 - hence the deterioration of the pictures. The unfortunate lady was on the first day of her holiday and ended up slipping on the rocks and suffering a broken hip. The location is on the cliffs above Filey Brigg (Carr Naze) by the "Emperors Pool" - notoriously slippy rocks.

The sequence is from a whole load of pictures taken of the occasion, developed and taken to the local newspaper. Their response was "good pictures, but as nobody was killed we cannot use them."

Yeees - the skill of those pilots is fantastic - and nerves of steel are required as well. Thank you for those most interesting pics - the one which shows the downdraught on the water is extraordinary

Very nice sequence.

I'm only sorry that no one got killed or even severely injured, so the broader audience could have enjoyed the pictures as well

Broken hips on slippery rocks are so.... how shall I put it .... everyday-like...don't you think?

I think any situation where you need to be rescued by a helicopter is quite rubbish to be in....

Well, spose it could be a common thing in those parts??? Unlike what we had on Tuseday Night in Lincolnshire.... Very sad indeed... We sadly had a house fire near Skegness and one person died, but we managed to rescue one person and their dog, which are both alive!!!
