Made the switch and saved a packet

I have just changed my broadband provider from AOL to Sky. AOL were charging me £27.99 a month compared to Sky's £5 a month for upto 40GB downloads. As I don't download music or film it should do me fine. There was no hassel in changing over, apart from AOL trying to keep me, and it was up and running from when they said. The other package which is £10 gives you unlimited downloads and upto 16mb speed. Mine is only upto 8mb, but my line can only handle 5mb. A good deal all round.

Sounds good, but overall how much are you paying Sky to add that on.
A bit like my BT service - I dare not add the total for telephone, broadband and mobile phones. :shock:

With NTL (now Virgin), was going to BT but NTL wanted us to stay and offered one year half price line rental - £9 per month Broadband for a year + free local calls evening and week-ends.

We have had the basic Sky package since April 2000. So not really made much difference, except for saving almost £23 per month.

Hope you did't have to tell AOL you wanted to cancel more than a few times
In the US they are unbelievable...
I dislike AOL very much. they seam to have this thing.....
....some internal program they have to follow

AOHell...PuntMonster...BusySignal, all terms we in the US learned thanks to AOL. When Steve Jobs was at the helm it was tolerable. Now that he's gone, it's become worse that (ugh) CompuServe or (ugh) PeoplePC.

Can't get NTL here (30 foot away they can) so I'm stuck with BT, or someone using BT's lines. So I pay the asking price and grin and bear it.
