Hi all

A visit to the Isle of Man on Sunday allowed me to visit the last remaining Percival Q6 in existence. G-AFFD has been under restoration for a good few years, but the owner has now decided that someone else should finish the restoration so he stands a much better chance of actually getting to fly on his aircraft. The wings are now back on the UK mainland and the fuselage is to follow within the next few weeks. He is hopeful she will fly by the end of this year.

I for one can't wait to see this beautiful aircraft in the air again. All I need to do now is convince the boss that he needs to buy it..!!

It had 2 Gipsy Six engines, same as the Rapide, but the Q6 is considerably faster. Max cruise was about 170mph.

I only knew of the type through reading a history of the King's/Queen's Flight. I didn't know any were still in existance.

Here's a bit of info..... http://www.pilotfriend.com/aircraft%20p ... ival/6.htm

I seem to remember meeting you at Goodwood Tom and you telling me how advanced Percival were in their day... now I know exactly what you mean. That's a beautiful aircraft

Kind regards

John
