HP42 Sounds

Anyone know of any recommended sounds for the HP42?

Hi Steve,

I use the ones off the default Vimy for want of something else. Couldn't say how realistic they are but they beat the pants off the default DC3

I've just downloaded the excellent HP42 after seeing it talked about on the forum. I would think that four old radial engines like that would have a pretty rough sound.
What about it on the VA? Never make any money I suppose and a simrate of 64x would be needed

Yup.. rough is how I'd imagine they'd sound too.. very 'valvey' (not a word I know but I know you know what I mean)

Which file was it Steve and where from??

Worry not btw. I want the HP42 in the VA lineup as much as you do and it's inclusion has already been/is being considered (privately though I've just blown that)

The most logical sound set would be that from the Ford Tri-Motor.

Like the HP42, the Tri-Motor used a 9 cylinder single row radial engine, albeit with one more of them but FS sorts that out on its own.

The Tri-Motor's Whirlwinds were only 300 hp as against the HP42s 500 hp Jupiters but who's counting?

The Vimy used liquid cooled V12 R-R Eagles in the original version and the replica one now flying uses turbo-charged V8s so the sound wouldn't be much like an HP42 at all I'd have thought.

The VA I fly with, Albion Air Cargo, has an Albion Empire Division of which I'm the Division Captain for my sins. We have a couple of HP42s in the fleet, a Western version and an Eastern, and use them on services to South Africa. Any one flight takes about 10-12 DAYS depending on the local winds. It's good fun confusing the on-line controllers on IVAO when they say 'Cleared to FL290' or similar.......

Just a thought - The Jupiter was a much slower turning engine than the Whirlwind plus it was throwing a heavy wooden prop rather than a Ham Standard - One of the original members of the board of Britannia Capt Davidson? was a first officer for Imperial and My older brother built a desk top model of the HP42 for him - his comment was that the sounded like a dememented sewing machine (Im assuming like DaveB he was referring to the rocker arm noise - something like a BIG Pobjoy Catarct)
Anyone who has heard a Comper Swift or a BA Swallow running will know
what I mean
