This beggars the question from the Hudson thread - when I read the bit about it being the first American aircraft to see conflict in World War 2 with the British - wasnt a Martlet the first aircraft to shoot down a german aircraft (I believe a Do17 over Scapa flow) in WW2 ??? Which would predate the Hudsons claim????
Leif
BTW I like the last one too

Hi Leif, bit of confusion going on methinks,
26 September 1939, a Blackburn Skua (RN of course) is the first
British plane to shoot down a German plane

8 October 1939, Lockheed Hudson becomes first
RAF aicraft to shoot down a German plane

25th December 1940, Grumman Martlets of 804 Sqn become first
American built fighter(s) to shoot down a German aircraft
