Visited local Game store today and got Tiger Moth and FS Global SE for £25 (or £14.99 each)

FS global is very nice, but it has made my local "strip" (Croft Farm) look like it is on top of the Acropolis..... I seem to recall there is a technique to flatten this sort of problem by “drivingâ€

Hi Colin.
Is your (croft farm) an add on,if so it might just be a case of moveing this above fs global on the scenery settings page.
regards alan.

Colin,

You described exactly how it's done already.

In spot view, with Shift-Z on its first setting to show the lat-long, move the aircraft (and it doesn't have to be a Cessna, anything small will do so you know where its centre is) to the four corners of the area you need flattening and make a note of the lat-long of the corners. It doesn't have to be a rectangle either, it can be a trapezium if need be.

Make sure you move round the area in order, Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Right, Bottom Left. Rumour has it that they have to be taken in a clockwise direction, but I've never tried it any other way as yet.

Then open up the scenery.cfg file in the FS main folder and run down till you find the entry for Croft Farm and add a line at the end of its entry like this :-

Flatten.0=470,S42 56.44,W71 29.34,S32 56.63,W71 29.08,S32 57.43,W71 29.89,S32 57.08,W71 30.36

The first figure, 470, is the altitude of the flattened area and the following numbers are the lat-longs of the four corners. You can have more than one Flatten area for each scenery entry, numbering them Flatten,0 Flatten, 1 etc etc if you need to make special arrangements for funny shaped area, but I must admit I've never used this myself.

Best of luck, you may need it as it's very much a 'shoot and hope' operation.

One other thought Colin...is your scenery for Croft Farm the UK2000 Part 6...?

If it is then if you look in the folder structure for Part 6 you will then find a folder called 'Croft Farm' that contains a couple of files for a solution to this known problem (also Ledbury has a similar workaround)

If it is not UK2000 then the above reply will no doubt sort it.

Back on topic!

I picked up the JF Lancaster pack at £14.99; although I already have the PD and DG Lancs, it seemed rude not to buy it at that price.

If you have found it Colin.... There are 2 .bgl files in the folder just

1. Copy 'crof.bgl' into the FS9\UK2000 Part 6\scenery folder

2. Copy the 'AF2_EG62.BGL' into the FS9\UK2000 Scenery\AF2_HIGH\Scenery folder.

That should make it all flat again....if you use Ledbury you will find a folder for that one two.....similar mods will be within that particular folder.
