Nice shots, looks like a proper task force!!

You should be able to get the Auster on and off unaided, I've managed it with the Swordfish I'm working on, once with a tailwind because I wasn't paying attention, but then I had been practising my intercepts by flying down a bearing from Kirkwall for an hour and a half to where I'd calculated the ship should be!
If you can track down the AH FS9 Sea Hurricane it works quite well, it was freeware but I've got no idea if it's still available, I think they do a Seafire as well which was up on their website a few weeks ago if you're feeling particularly brave! About 5 knots above the stall speed on the approach and don't worry about not being able to see the ship...

The AH Sea Hurricane, which was part of their Hurricane package, works quite well in FSX (at least for me). I would attach a screen-shot, if I could only figure out how.

There is actually a Precedent for that G-AGOH was the first civilian aircraft to land on a carrier --Illustrious in 1946 by Porteus himself

My dad served on HMS Anson during WW2 in the Pacific.
I believe HMS Anson and KG5 are the same. Something to do with renaming the ship?? I'm no ship buff, not sure.

My dad is in the centre. Taken in Falmouth outside what is now Grannies Pasties.
Unfortunately there are no ship names on the caps because of wartime regs.

Incidentally, it turns out you can land the AH Seafire on the Vic without using the tailhook, you do use a lot of the flight deck though!

By the by, there's a good photo in the Osprey 'Seafire vs Zero' book of a Seafire on short finals with the hood and door open and the pilot sticking his torso out of the gap to look around the engine!

The Auster.. well bless my soul. I looked through the list of what aircraft I have in FSX and the only thing that came close was the Auster. It's a lovely aircraft to fly carrier ops.. you can see the speed I was doing on that shot (39kts with full flap) and it lands on with barely a roll forward As for taking off.. you know what the Auster is like.. open the gas and the tail comes up. With full flap, she's airbourne using only half the deck length I didn't know of her relationship with the RN. Something else to try and remember

Thanks for that link Skip I pulled the SU Hurricane because Brian Gibbs did a lovely 7L paint for it which was just perfect for Victorious ops. However, the version I found wasn't the FSX version (I just dragged it over) and it's not as kind on frames as I'd like. Also, it suffers that hideous prop problem (the ship goes see-thru when viewed through the prop blur) ALSO.. it's not a real Sea Hurricane.. there's no hook

HMS Anson.. yes, a famous naval name if ever there was one. She was one of 5 KGV class battleships along with KGV, Prince of Wales, Duke of York and Howe and had the distinction of being the only one of the class never to fire her guns in anger.. not at an enemy ship anyway. The class were scrapped the year I was born.. 1957. Fine ships of the line, each and every one

I forgot to mention above that the KGV is a payware model by Deltasim.. a bit pricey if you have to pay full whack but an excellent model and perfect to compliment Victorious

Disturbingly there's a Leander half built languishing on one of my hard drives. I'd say it wouldn't take long to finish, but if I only do half the possible variations it could take months!!
