Well, I HAD prepared a long reply to your post Michael, but DB seems to have covered a lot of it.

Just a couple of thoughts! No British subjects that people might buy; what about a Venom or Vampire NF, a single seat Venom or Vampire? Or some nice new Meteors, plenty of scope there and, for example, a Mk 3 could easily be adapted for a Mk 4, Mk 8 for 9 etc? They could have done well with a Seahawk, when it was being hinted at last year, but they might have missed that particular boat! :dunno:

A bit of thought is all that is needed. Your example of the F-84 was spot on; no competition, freeware or otherwise, and an important aircraft = a good seller. Could they have sold more Canberras with a little more thought and a few more variants (I know, for example, that Phil got at least one extra sale when they included some extra Javelin variants!!), I believe the Lightning was moderately successful!! The recent Sabre offered nothing over Kirk's version; less, in fact, as Kirk had different wing options; Jan's lifts the bar even further, and will lead to other models including an F-86H!! But what if Alphasim had gone for the Dog Sabre variants, no real competition, plenty of scope, I'd have bought it even at the current price level!!

Like yourself I have no bone to pick, no axe to grind; I'd like to think I can be considered a neutral both on this forum and over at AS. Some of the comments over here do get overly nitpicky; but thats down to a combination of some very knowledgeable people who CAN back up their knowledge with real talent - oh, and the fact that AS can produce some real masterpieces, but quality is somewhat less than consistent!!

this does seem to be getting to be a war between groups

Do as I do Dano buddy ignore the nit pickers and ARCs. Eventually they go away and carp on another site and we both know there's plenty of them on THAT site.
There's so few of them anyway that they are no loss if they don't come back, but they will they always do.
BTW the Hunter is fantastic and the 92 Sqn and Blue Diamond versions look just great where they belong at Middleton St. George.
i take it THAT site is CBFS?

It could be DC.. I don't really care to be honest. Few here seem to have bought it so I can only guess from those remarks that someone, somewhere KNOW's it's deficiencies and chose to do nothing about them ;-) Unusually, not even the Pirate sites are willing to buy and post it at that price so who am I to comment

Michael..
I didn't think you were being either comical or had been dripping  It was doing my head in because your post was so long, I kept forgetting what you'd written and had to keep going back down the page to read it  Comes from having a goldfish-type memory  As for Alpha, they seem to be their own worst enemy so only have themselves to blame. As for cost.. something is only worth what someone will pay for it. If no one buys the Hunter in 'numbers'.. they'll have to ask themselves the reasons why. All the ingredients are there.. as much as they are with other cold war jets they sell.. except perhaps one.. it's NOT American. I dunno :dunno: I've stopped buying from them for the moment and while that may seem a little trite, it's not really as I have most of their portfolio anyway AND have bought them ;-) I was recently given one of their latest models (off one of those unmentionable sites and via a 3rd person) and had I liked it (eg.. if it didn't stall at 400kts and above e t c).. I'd have bought it. As it happens, I was so unimpressed I deleted it.. yup.. there is was.. GONE. BOY would I have been cheesed if I'd bought it but this often happens with models I HAVE bought. The only difference is I don't delete em because I HAVE bought em :cpu:

Andy..
Valid points each one mate. We DO get picky here sometimes but that isn't saved for Alpha.. we're picky about our OWN models. That's why they go out as well as we think they can be ;-) How many folk say the shape of Rick's 748 is wrong (other than Rick) or DM's Trident is a load of poo e t c. They don't do they because they're not :)

Right.. that's me done for a while. I've just finished an 8hr10min flight from Gander to Kef in the freeware York and both the York and I are pooped. I have just, in one go.. spent more time in that single model than I have in the combined fleet of Alpha models over all the years I've had em. That doesn't mean to say that all Alpha models are not worthy of use (though that does apply to some).. it's simply a measure of how much I use them. I got fed up (for a number of reasons) buying Alpha stuff just to 'have one' so made a physical decision to stop for the obvious reason.. WHY BOTHER  I've since bought plenty of scenery and other bits and pieces for fsim and these I enjoy on a regular basis ;-)

Spot on Dave. We all know Rick's Blenheim will be a masterpiece, because it's Rick's Blenheim!! TBH the 'infamous' Piper DH Venom would likely whup the ass of most other aircraft out there, freeware or payware, if he released it as is; but he won't, because it doesn't meet his QC standards!

And long may it continue!! :welldone:

Last I heard (a couple of weeks ago) was that the Gnoop was trying to get a B-50 update in time for the 2008 Sim-Outhouse/Avsim/Flightsim Round the World Race which takes place next month.

Best wishes

Steve, does that mean its on the verge of being released, do you think ? Its the B-29 I'm really eager for, but his B-50 looks bloomin fantastic too! :)
