I believe Brooklands are getting her fuse section though where it's going to go and what they're going to do with it I've no idea

No one seemd to have noticed my post on whichever earlier page of this thread it was, but I would suggest someone got in contact with Rolls-Royce at Ansty (Coventry) who overhaul the remaining Tyne engines that are in use , and try and arrange a deal perhaps exchanging some oil for a large RR advert outside the aircraft when its running? Best suggestion I cant think of :dunno:

Perhaps, its only a bit of oil after all. Didnt RR turn down Air Atlantiques request for help with their Avons?

We should pick somebody from the VA who has the most hours on the budgie and steal one of Emeralds old ones and then fly it under the radar down to Brooklands:lol:

And land on what Jonesey? That was my point about the Vanguard... since the last aircraft arrived, the runway has been ripped up  Theres now a big Merc centre on the site so people can come and test drive and find out if they are obnoxious enough to own a GL

I'm totally with you... Brooklands isnt really the right place though since all of their exhibits are BAC/Vickers or were developed/manufactured in whole or part on the site. To the best of my knowledge no part of the Avro/HS748 ever was. Really Manchester AVP ought to have one. What would be really nice would be a national civil aviation museum to cater for all the GA and airliners that get rejected by other museums that focus on military stuff. As a recent poll on here proved I think there are actually more civil than military fans around, no disprespect to those enthusiasts

Quite right 748 should go back home to Avro.well Manchester

Not Brooklands.

Would be nice to see one at MAN in the old Skyways of London titled Skyways livery with the coach air logo.

Nice one Dave

Good to have the inside drama, Banter 'n' all - A SEQUEL! (Following on from my stuff, this could prove to be a Blockbuster!!)

I'd love to know how to improve quality with these uploadings, although yours looks a tad better than mine. I just want to be able to have it on my PC as clear as I see it on my TV (camcorder plugged in to it) I'm gonna have another tweek sometime, and if any better, I'll upload it in parts, like you have done.

A couple of quick questions, Dave (or anyone)...

What is it on Engine 3 (only) that produces that 'ear-splitting' howl? (Engine runs other things?)

And, why was the ground crew member holding a 'rope' or hose going in to the nose wheel bay? (I've seen pictures of hoses coming out of nose wheel bays before, but I'm ignorant as to why!)

A 'Blockbuster' indeed!! I've only uploaded 15mins worth thus far as Photobucket will only let me upload files of 5mins or less without forking out dosh. It's a pain but hell.. it's free if you keep below the limit so I can't complain

Engine3 is a bit of a mystery to me too Chris. I know the rectifier is missing from the generator hence it won't 'make' power but that shouldn't explain why it gives the very distinctive 'howl' or should that be whine?? It's almost true to say that with engines 1, 2 and 4 running.. the sound is nice but not distinctive until engine 3 joins the chorus and this alone gives it it's distinction :dunno: I'll look into it and report back

The chap hanging onto the bit of rope (Tony Atherton) is actually hanging onto a piece of cable. This is attached at one end to his headphones and at the other, to a jackplug which is plugged into the 'ground comms' socket located in the nosegear bay  You will hear in the clips, Wireless Albert (sitting in P1) telling ground that we were going to do this and going to do that.. it was Tony he was speaking to  He is then aware of what we are doing and can act accordingly

Just watched it again, and the noise that engine 3 makes is the same as on my dads home video from years ago of the vanguards taxiing at liverpool.
