The New York Times is saying that talks have been agreed to, on the Ukraine / Belarus border. President Zelenskyy spoke to Lukashenko by phone, but won't be going himself. Can't say I blame him - they wouldn't hesitate to assasinate him, given any chance, even under the flag of truce.

Hi Paul, they said that earlier and an hour latter Belarus launched 2 missiles at Ukraine. I wouldn’t go near them with a bargepole. I honestly think he’s on the ropes.

Zelenskyy on the ropes ? Time will tell, of course. They are now forming a new 'International Brigade' because of all the volunteers arriving from other countries. I hope the greater proportion of them are ex-military, rather than just enthusiastic idealists, otherwise they will be lambs to the slaughter. One thing seems certain - the Ukranians are receiving increasing amounts of equipment from the US, UK and EU. I just hope it can be distributed to where it's needed.

I see that the Rouble lost 30% of it's value today, but has recovered slightly (to be 20% down) after Russia raised interest rates from 9.5% to 20%. This will hurt the Russian people, but perhaps that is what it's going to take to get a regime change in Russia. I hold no ill will to the Russian people and I'm sure that the vast majority of them just want to get on with their every day lives.
The problem is, that there's no opposition for the Russian people to turn to. Putin has changed the countries rules at least once in order for him to remain in power and anyone that opposes him ends up in gaol or worse!
