Oh YES sir.. all these shots are with full FSX models  Dunno if it's at Allnodes or Avsim-times-I-have-a-library-and-sometimes-not but you can pull it (v2) off FS Shipyards ;) Pity it's French but I love it

Downloaded the Clemenceau myself yesterday. As you say Dave, she's rather nice.
Set up an AI Carriers config with her and the Ark, along with Ricks Glamorgan and spent a happy hour or two practicing Heli landings between the three

That sounds like excellent fun Dave

As with TTools and afcad.. it took me a while to 'get into' and on the surface, trying similar in FSX seems a further leap into the unknown. I wasn't best pleased at having to download the latest 'Java' in order for one of the progs mentioned above to work (one always reads bad things about nasty sh1t getting onto your system via Java) but have done so and the boat traffic compiler works. Next.. to tie it all in with Google Earth (which is probably very easy but I'm not looking forward to)

I didn't try Clemenceau's 2048 textures.. opting for the lower (1024) from the outset but these run SO well.. I may just try the 'double size' at some point. That said, 1024 are really good enough and I get no frame hit at all :)

I don't know what's entailed in making a 'Ship' for FSX but I sincerely hope to see more 'Classic' Brit vessels produced. We are a nation that has produced some of the most strikingly beautiful ships in history, both naval and maritime and FSX gives 'erberts like me a chance to 'get out of the office' (I use the term loosely) a bit more  The 'bonus' of not having to make a VC (if the ship isn't to be pilotable.. unsubtle hint) makes it more of a surprise that more ships aren't being built. Well, perhaps they are but the vast majority seem to be from the good ole U. S. of A. :-# Any port in a storm but to be honest.. landing on Nimitz is like landing at Heathrow. You get the impression you could land side-ways  By comparison.. landing on Ark is like landing a fast jet at Popham

Enough waffle.. where's that Victorious *-)

Lol I remember when we released the Ark for FS9 there was a thread over at the now long gone Alphasim forum where someone was complaining that she had been modeled wrong and was "too narrow" and the modeler had done a bad job. Then "Seaking55" posted that classic photo of her moored alongside the Nimitz at Mayport, and it was plain to see that the Ark (which was the Biggest Brit carrier at that!) was very narrow indeed in comparison. The thread somehow stopped after that..... lol

I am told by Nazca Steve by text message this morning that hopefully the Vic should be up for download on the Website tonight, so hopefully by the time you read this message allowing for time differences from the West Coast of the USA to Sunny Berkshire! :)

By the way, the Phantom sequence looks great, that Clemenceau is a very nice model indeed, although I am going to have to go back and RTFM as I dont have an Alouette on Plane guard for mine!

Cheers,

Sketch

You guys are gonna love the old time Vic, many thanks to SkippyBing and Sketchy74 for bringing this classic to our
flightsim, I was one of the lucky few beta testers, enjoy it as SkippyBing and Sketchy74 did creating it for the sim.

What prog do you use for compiling your AI ship routes?? I quite like the look of that auxilliary ICW your task force and would like to be able to keep it with Ark and Hermes on their trips around the globe :) BenW made the ones I use as I'm incapable (in FSX)

btw I don't compile routes. With AI carriers when you select a ship or ships they steam in the direction you are flying. At least I think they are steaming. Don't recall seeing any wake?

I know that picture very well.. a mate of mine on Norfolk had the same one framed on his wall at home (an anchor faced git or what) Re Clemenceau.. I didn't do anything to it mate being a novice. Is it v2 you have??

One small problem I thought of after installing Victorious.. I don't have anything suitable from that era to use. The 'DG' Auster hardly seems appropriate but you need neither a cat or wires to land onboard

Image

I have the SU Hurricane somewhere which I think was for both sims until something more suitable turns up (if I can find it that is). Wonder if the old Alpha Stringbag works in 'X'. It got dragged kicking and screaming into FS9 so I have my doubts *-)

Great work on the Victorious though lads. There's a lot more of her to discover and I know what I'll be doing this afternoon

Finally got the Stringbag working then fought for ages to find a decent prop blur 8)

Anyway.. naval ops of a slightly different kind this afternoon. Victorious was joined by King George V at Scapa Flow. It's gonna take me years to work out the key combinations for views on the KGV as I seem to get a different set with each press of A  The shots taken are an attempt to show the lines of Victorious though KGV is in shot most of the time as I was at the helm and got dizzy with the pov hat 8) Interestingly.. when I slowed in KGV, Victorious also slowed which didn't work as intended because I wanted her to whizz past for some screenies
