On RR engines, there is an LP fuel pump, followed by a LP filter and finally the HP fuel pump.
Indeed there is, but I didn't want to get too techie for the non-techies that read this
Pete, you've got Gimli mixed up with the Azores Airbus.

Some people amaze me, read on the letters page on TV today from some-one who wrote in and said that they were getting fed up of the press calling it a crash landing. He/she went on to say that it is not a crash landing as the aircraft can be repaired and therefore it is a landing. A crash landing is when it cannot fly again!!! :doho:
Some people!!!! :brick:

Surely that's called a "crash".
Now I'm being pedantic.

I don't think that it will fly again, lots of damage to the wing roots, I guess she'll be parted out and turned into bean cans

I have come across the following definitions before -
A successful landing - one that the aircraft can be used again.
A safe landing - one that everyone walks away.
Can anyone remember the third?

Kevin

You're a tad off from what I remember -
1) A good landing - one everyone walks away from
2) A great landing - a good landing and the airplane can be used again
3) A perfect landing - something that all pilots claim when they make a good landing

Cruel but mildly amusing
Mildly amusing?
That's the funniest thing I've seen for weeks! Thanks for that, Dave - I needed some cheering up.

Phew.. thanks for
that Ian. I fear we may be in a minority of 2 given the complete lack of response (make that 3 as the chap who sent it me was amused too)
