Come on guys, you all have to buy it so that I can buy all the FS2004 addons that don't work on Ebay for a knock down price.

I haven't used FS2004 enough yet to justify spending more money.

Dave's lovely little 111 worked very well indeed. a few small texture problems and effects in wrong place but the only major problem was that the fuel gauge was always zero.

Hows that for a Classic Aircraft?
I want it and I want it now! Ok so I can't have it (the SRN4) now, but in my opinion it is a classic, whether people think it's a ship or an aircraft... Superb! Well done for making it

Kind regards

John
Wooaaa, SRN4 !!, thats a must have, always wanted to make one of them, never enough time or fingers to big to pull out of holes, that looks awfully accurate l must say.

Technically they are an aircraft, OT l know but there pilots and not captains and there bounded by the FAA not captain pugwash and his merry band, they also carried aircraft registration numbers ( GH 2xxx )and were never registered with Lloyds or carried Lloyds numbers ( now IMO numbers ).

I had a fantastic day out on a SRN4, only after much argument with the nice lady at Hoverspeed who assured me the Seacat was much nicer, she failed to see the attraction of being bounced across the channel at high velocity with 4 RR Proteus turbines at ones derrière :).

Nice model Rick.

The semi-transparent effect on some FS9 aircraft when used in FSX demo can be fixed by copying the envmap.bmp from your FS9 texture folder into the FSx texture folder.
I've only tried it with a couple of aircraft, but it seems to work OK.

Yep - Mike "tdragger" Gilbert who put together the demo at MS has owned up to forgetting to include that texture ;)

So yes, it should fix everything

Gawd!! Forty five hours on dial up to down load.....Now let me see....NTL has limit of 2 hours at a time.........Set alarm clock.......No.....won't bother!!

After reading your comments I just can't understand Microsoft wanting to make a demo available for all and sundry to try before they buy when it appears there are still a number of issues to iron out.

It is likened to that of releasing a brand new car to Joe public with free demo drives and finding that the steering wanders, the brakes only work on two wheels and the gear shift is back to front!!!

Probably they will say that all development of FSX was done on Windows Vista and by using it, the graphics and performance will be greatly improved..........Just to get us to spend more money.

By all of your comments I think Microsoft should have had all of you as testers.....Then the demo would have probably been a lot better than what it appears to be at present.

After playing about with it for a few hours, I've sadly ended up at the conclusion that it's a complete dog.
Possibly some of it is down to driver issues, but water textures are flashing, performance is diabolical even on low settings, it's jerking about, display quality is generally down, it's not recognizing all the normal commands for a CH yoke, still no improvement in refresh rate in the VC, spot view is hard/impossible to manage, new shadows are poor quality & also flashing with the beacon.

And a quick test with the 1-11 - no glass, can't start engines, doesn't seem to reliably register clicks on certain gauges in the VC, no fuel showing, switching on autopilot causes the screen to go blank & then picture returns with big square clouds, exterior sounds are not as good.

On the plus side, the reflections on the MS aircraft often look superb.
The 1-11 seems to perform reasonably close to FS9.

A bit one sided.
I'm surprised at how bad an opinion I've formed. FS9 seemed to be a good program right from the off to me & the only complaint was that it could have been near perfect with some better menu options & a decent map.
Not so with this, it feels horrible & I'm a bit worried. :huf:
