Classic British Flight Sim

I couldn't get her to fire up last night either. Engine 2 started OK, but engine 1 just kept going through the motions but never caught.
Have done successful starts before but I don't know what was different this time round

No.. there's something in the sequencing which must decide this. I've tried to replicate the starters cycling/engine noise issue I had with the aircraft cold and dark but have failed.. I can't remember exactly how I got to that point before I'll have to try and load it up on the WinXP system though I'm not sure exactly what this would achieve

I have these steps occur to me;
Press the starter,
Starter noise and spoil up sounds normal
N1/RPM starts to climb, but very slowly
Starter noise stops, running noise starts
N1 passes 13% (this is after about a minute)
Open fuel cock (right click on throttle- throttle opens up and moves to idle)
N1 continues to climb at the same painful rate
Eventually gets to 30%, throttle becomes moveable
No change in engine tone.

Hmm..

Trying in WinXP proved interesting..



I also got the expected error box when trying to open the config tool that it wasn't a valid win32 application. FR's surprisingly good though. I've FSX locked to 30fps on the WinXP rig and it pretty much achieved that all the time outside. Inside was a little different though.. high teens to low 20's.. low 20's for the most part. I'm not really fussed what it does on the WinXP rig as it was never intended to be run on there anyway.

I suggest looking at table 1505 in the .air file using Aircraft airfile manager. This will show the curve graphically. I had a slow start on my U16 I'm still trying to finish, (broken 'puter at mo, so looking at this with very ancient slow laptop), but by making that curve almost vertical between the 1st & 2nd points & then a straight line thereafter, seemed to help quite a lot.

I've had a very quick look before going to work. I've seen the config tool for the first time so that's a bonus (it's now one of 3 separate tools rather than being all mashed into Canberra Flight Analysis as it was before) and I was able to select direct nose wheel steering which has worked. I also 'left' the nav as being there rather than ballast . Not looked at the manual for this. I expected to see a nav in the front but the front was empty. I'll have a better look next time around

So far, so good-ish
