The 'reverse thrust' option is already set in the 'air' file. I followed the instructions mentioned in the SOH thread and my Bev now has 'reverse thrust'. The only drawback is that you must do the Ctrl-F1, Ctrl-F2 keystrokes to use the 'reverse thrust'. :sad:

Hi Brian

Does that actually do anything?

Often all these things do is turn on the noise and activate the guages but there is little evidence that reverse thrust is actually working.............no marked decelleration :dunno:

It always seems a bit of a grey area this one. :think:

Oh it works fine. I made the mod on the B-26K and it works fine. Needs some additional tweaking though because it turns over much too slowly to reverse and there isn't the proper drop to almost nil RPM as the blades transition through full feather and into reverse.

Good question Garry, let me check. (time passes) Ok, it appears that this option, on its own, does not affect the 'reverse thrust' on the Bev. It looks like the key is to have the 'aircraft.cfg' file properly configured. Here's how the propeller section of mine looks.

[propeller]
propeller_type=0
propeller_diameter=16.5
propeller_blades=4
propeller_moi=37.375488
beta_max=65.0
beta_min=25.0
min_gov_rpm=1400.0
prop_tc=0.1
gear_reduction_ratio=2.25
fixed_pitch_beta=20.0
low_speed_theory_limit=80.0
prop_sync_available=0
prop_deice_available=1
prop_feathering_available=1
prop_auto_feathering_available=0
min_rpm_for_feather=20.0
beta_feather=-64.0
power_absorbed_cf=0.1
defeathering_accumulators_available=0
prop_reverse_available=1
minimum_on_ground_beta = 1
minimum_reverse_beta = -14

After the 'aircraft.cfg' is updated you must do the following. This is quoted from the SOH thread.

1. Once on ground hit Ctrl + F1. (Or move prop pitch lever all the way back)
2. Then hold Ctrl + F2
You will see on the rpm gauge that the rpm drops below its usual minimum. As soon as you see that, then advance the throttle.
3. To return props to normal hit Ctrl + F4. (Or move prop pitch lever all the way foreword)
4. That’s it!

Thanks Brian...I'll give that a go later :smile:

Brian, Ok got it working I copied your prop section into the my aircraft.cfg it now actually reverses , trying to work out why it did'nt work before.

I have changed my key assignments as follows to give single keystrokes

Propeller RPM low changed to 5 was Ctrl + F1

Propeller RPM decrease quickly to 6 was Ctrl + F2

Propeller RPM high to 7 was Ctrl +F4

So on touchdown throttles closed tap 5 closely followed by 6 at the same time opening the throttles, as soon as speed drops low enough close throttles tap 7 and continue to taxi

The 5 6 7 nums are the main keyboard not the nums on the right

The old Bev has certainle advanced this week

Thanks for the tip regarding the keystroke assignments, Rich. That'll definitely simplify thing when landing the Bev. :wink:

Rich,

My crashing problem with the Bev is definitely the darn PC that's causing the problems.

I've got both doors and no doors versions installed on my other, Win2K, PC, with all four texture schemes, the original 30 Sqdn. scheme, 84 Sqdn. camo scheme, Kevin's 47 Sqdn scheme and my own early 47 Sqdn. scehme, and with both panel options and it works just fine. I can swap to and from any Bev to any other a/c and shut the sim down just fine, so it must be this rubbish WinXP laptop.

I'm going to install the reverse pitch mod this afternoon and then all I need is a scenery for Abingdon. :smile:

Thanks for the pointers anyway.

Ah yes, this bit for Rick.......

The no doors versions all have a slight reflective sheen to them whereas the ones with doors are 100% matt. As the alpha channel is the same on all the textures how does that work? I think the with sheen ones look better myself.

Hi Kit

Sorry had no Internet foor a few days as my router wouldn't play www after putting Vista on my PC.

I thought i did both variants in modern materials :dunno:

will take a look and report back.

Possibly a "cock up on the rendering front"
Good old Geoffrey Palmer :lol: :lol: :lol:

That brought a long laugh after a pretty rough day, thanks. :smile:

I must say I'm enjoying flying the Bev again after a long time away from it. Done a few of the flights I flew in real world in the 50s over Salisbury Plain and the Brecons. Great with VFR scenery!

Just wish there was an RAF Abingdon available, it's not the same taking-off from the flat photo runway.......
