Mike , I hope this will work for you''

Hi,

Sounds like this is a common problem with corrupted previous Windows Essentials. To fix this we recommend that you uninstall the application using CMD line parameter this is different from uninstalling the application via control panel. This will clean out all related files of your Windows Essentials that are stored in your system. To do this, please execute the steps below:

1. Run this Fix it tool, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mat ... _uninstall it will remove bad registry key on your operating systems and resolves problems that prevent programs from being completely uninstalled and blocking new installations and updates

2. Uninstall Windows Live Essentials by following the instruction found in the solution article below:

Note: Make sure that you place the wlarp.exe on the correct folder before performing the steps in the solution article. The file should be in this path: c:\program files (x86)\windows live\installer folder or c:\program files\windows live\installer folder.

How to uninstall Windows Essentials via CMD line parameter

3. Install Windows Essentials, please click the link below in order to download a fresh installer from our website and check if the issue still occurs.

Let us know the result afterwards.

Thank you.

good luck

Hi Joe,
While you were investigating and reporting that, I ran Fixit, had to do three times to flush out the 3 hidden installs of MM.
Ran the installer again, and it installed MINUS about 60 necessary wli,WLX etc etc files, which I copied from Mrs A's setup to mine.
It now starts to load, then tells me that my system isn't up to it.
I THINK that's because 4 or 5 files had to go somewhere other than the Photogallery file. I've yet to compare mine with hers and move them.
Currently waiting for her to finish what she's doing, then I'm on it.
NOW I'm going to read your mail in detail, just had to unload this news.
Thanks Matey

Couldn't get rid of that open error about minimum system requirements.
Trashed everything I'd done.
Went through the suggested steps.
Right back to where I was- doesn't meet minimum system requirements.
I'll try a reboot and see what happens.... :'(

EDIT Same again, and now I have icons on the desktop that I've never seen - 2 instances of dektop.ini, and one of thumbnails
I'm fed up, it's nearly midnight and I'm sick of the sight of this screen :OB:

Final episode.
Went to Blaine's MM Blog.
d/l MM 6.
It works, don't know how well, but it doesn't crash.
Hopefully W10 will fix it for the 2012 version.
Goodnight to that one, and many thanks for your suggestions and research.
EDIT MM6 is OLD :(
