The CGH™ asks that I point out that it was unaware of the release of this product until now, and therefore, was not in a position to assist. Members are advised to 'watch their credit/debit card fingers' from now on :)

I reluctantly bought it as I have loved Ricks chippie (spell checker came up with chip pie !!)

1st flight was good, however I'm not sure about the engine sounds. Seems like its cutting out with the added wind noise its not as good as Ricks. With or without accu-feel.

VC is good and its well worth a tenner.

John

Well for under a tenner I suppose one can't complain too much - as to be expected the FDE is in need of serious work. Will please most of the sycophants over at SOH - but seriously, comparable to A2A stuff? - I thinks not. Glad to see that they are not all pandering to the developer though, and someone rightly as a paying customer has pointed out the defects, and deficiencies in JF marketing. One wonders if Rick had been in a position to keep modelling and updating his stuff if we would have been so charitable towards this version?

JF releases always seem to divide the community, much the same as Alphasim used to. The Chippy has a fair few faults, but at the price point I think it's pretty good. Hell, even A2A & PMDG models aren't without issues
Anyway that particular member over at SOH has a lot of nerve to criticise another developer considering...

Flown her some more today and from the cockpit fine cept for that wind noise, the over powerful flight characteristics - almost STOL and with the airframe swinging the wrong way on take off (as opposed to the prop spinning in the correct way), she is fine. And yes, the starter. That went out when they were demobbed, as Coffmans were thought to be too dangerous for civil owners. Stall warner too.......and.........so on!

I've raised all my points over at the Just Flight Forum and hopefully they will be looked into, just like they did when comments were made prior to the release. I can see this aeroplane being very popular and with the points raised fixed, will be a winner!

Until the alterations have been made, Rick's Chipmunk will stay on the Classic Air Force simulator, but then again there is always room for two Chipmunks! :)

Best wishes to all,

Martin

Obviously then the modeller and nobody on the beta team had R/L Chippy experience, with such a poor FDE? A pity when there seem to be a quite a few R/L Chippy pilots about. Dare one say - rushed for release or sloppy work! And remember the price goes up - those that bought it now got it cheap. T6flyer - I hope you are being paid for your advice - this being a commercial product.

Martin,
Your approach and comments warrant the term professional, and are like a breath of fresh air to me after enduring comments by others like our "friend" at SoH. I recall other spats by him there some time ago, and it seems he still has a lot to learn about courtesy and etiquette.

Thanks for your input,

If you don't want the wind noise, open the sound.cfg in the sound folder and delete the wind noise section. Alternatively, copy the sound.cfg from the bubble top version as that doesn't have that section in anyway. :)

I've shoe-horned the modified FDE that was done for Ricks model into this one and that seems much improved, although I've no real-world experience.

I think I'll stay with Rick's Sierra Bravo as it has had the Bandit Enterprises treatment to it's fuel system

For my edification, would this be the FDE created by Bernt Stolle and available at SoH and SimV ? Or is there an even better one available somewhere ?

Peter, I've actually seen that one before, but was surprised that your aircraft was not in the USAAC scheme that you pictured before. A clear case of my making 2 + 2 = 6 ... I've looked around but couldn't see that repaint anywhere, so I guess I'll have to hope that someone does it for the JF model.
