No.. DEFINATELY no matches or naked flames Anyone who's seen the Avion video 'Independent Airlines' and wonders why EK (I think it's EK) is taxiing with the crew door open can understand why!!
Nice shots Dave, must admit I'd forgotten what that panel looked like, never sat on that side much. good one of the manual pressure valve.
Didn't understand the "where did the oil come from", but I'll lay odds it's grease from the tiller wheel, it had a bloody great chain connecting the wheel to the control valve, always made a hell of a mess.
G-APES and ET were the only a/c used if we carried grooms in the rear, they had 2 cabin compressors, but still had the limit imposed.
Taxing with the door open was necessary if we had chickens or cattle onboard, otherwise there wasn't enough airflow on the ground and could cause suffocation.
Ya-hooo! Cheers Robbie I think it's great the way tiny bits of info keep dropping in to complete the picture ;-)
If you download those shots I uploaded for Fraser (they're pretty much like the ones above but with one of the AC panel) you'll see oil staining on the AC panel and that's what I was refering to ;-)
