Ok I have mailed him and will see what happens, I have asked for a lite version one that does not need ages to start and also one that you can jump in from a flight in the air... if he cannot help then maybe a freeware panel from flightsim.com will do for folk?? I must admit to "using one" now and then :o

Well done that man ;-) The 'fun' element has to be maintained or folk lose interest pretty quickly. I'll sit there and flick switches with the best of 'em on occassion but I don't always feel the inclination or have the time.. especially if I have a VA flight planned and the RW has stepped in to darken my day giving me little or no time to get the flight done. Flightsim on my flying pc takes years to load up and by the time I've programmed the flight into FSNav then opened the client and taken fuel onboard, a good 5 minutes or more has passed even with a 'jump in and go' aircraft.
We ALL appreciate his dedication to accuracy and hard work over many years and those with a penchant for 'doing it by the book' will remain loyal to the cause. I honestly think a 'lite' version will be equally well received and moreover, will (for our part) get more folk flying all these rotting 146's. Now.. if JM can pull an equally worthy FD out of the bag, there'll be a LOT of happy folk

I love Frasers solution
The Rapid start button
Often the usual CTRL won't worjk with clever panels so a good compromise
So the panel is there and depending on your mood......time.........inclination and what time dinner's served you can use it of ignore it.
Well tbh that's being clever and switching it all on when showing someone or rapid start when no ones looking

Tom Clayton wrote:I'm looking forward to this one as well, but if they use the version of Matthias Lieberecht's panel that's currently on FlightSim, I'll either have to change it out or find another plane. There's just too much to do before you can fly. I don't have time to digest a 160 page manual just to fly from here to the beach!
It takes about 5 minutes tops to get it taxing. Very straight forward.

The only reason I don't VA fly it at the minute is that neither models currently work properly in FSX.
To start Matthias's Panel... switch on the fuel; Switch on the battery, start the APU, Switch on the APU gen, Start the engines (one at a time) switch the engine Gens on and switch off the APU, fuel pumps and hydraulic pumps as required.... Thats not difficult now is it.

Probably easier for him to make a rapid start button than a lite version, as he'll know all the variables which need set, as well as not diluting but complimenting the original

Hi Ben,
Well.. there's 5 mins for the flight to load, 5mins to get the aircraft running then say a minute to get the client up. At least Frasers panels open with all and sundry working plus, as Tony mentioned.. you can chop aircraft (when not flying VA of course) without the world collapsing. OK.. there are various switches that HAVE to be made on some of his panels when flying VA flights due to how the client loads fuel but this is accepted.
If you want to start every flight from cold/dark.. then obviously ML's 146 panel is perfect but many, me included, don't care for that degree of f@rting around.. not ALL the time anyway. Henk wanted the Shack to be cold/dark start only and the concensus of opinion then was that it wouldn't reach everyone's 'spot'. I still feel this is the case now and with ANY model. Some developers go to the trouble to load 2 cfg's.. one for the wash & go brigade and one for the 'purists'. Nothing wrong with trying make something 'as real as it gets' but nowt wrong with offering an alternative either ;-)

Hi Dave,
Just one question. Why don't you start my panel with running engines end everything switched on?
Best Regards
Matthias

Hi Matthais,
And welcome!
I think the problem may be that flynet (in some cases) starts the aircraft cold and dark. I have had this happen to me a few times, but most of the time aircraft start with engines running, but that may have something to do with FSX / Vista. I'm not sure.

Hi Ben,
Ah okay, this could be.
I was quite a bit confused about some postings, because my panel has an autostart button and it saves the complete panel configuration (system configuration, switch positions and engine state) into an ini file, so nobody has to go through the complete start up procedure or start cold and dark if he don't like.
Best Regards
Matthias

Hi Matthias
And a warm welcome to the forum
Thanks for poppimg in a clearing it up.
Sounds like the panel is going to be just fine to suit all with the autostart function
