Look at the Technical Support forum thread titled "Scimitar......?" I think it was locked by one of the moderators and later unlocked by Dan.

I wont speak for others or blue on blue, but by christ l spend an inordinate amount of time on research and money on books and such for projects, some with gestation periods amounting to years. If what l do is not good enough then let me know, l do at least klnow where the door is and am willing to use if required.

I know one or two others in Alphasim that do the same, sorry to be defensive but l think this is a case of too much smelly stuff being thrown and fragments sticking to innocents.

I have no intention of wrapping up my UK models ( in progress or planned )on someone elses say so, l'll just look somewhere else to release, anyone here want a Jetstream 41 ?.

Regarding CBFS, well l think everyone knows the truth of the matter, l dont know why Alphasim issued that comment....though did they actually name CBFS ?....I dont agree with it but then they may know something l dont.

This middle gorund is killing me, shortly l'm going to have to make a decision....l suspect it might already be made for me, but wearing two hats isnt becoming any easier.

The problem is that we on this forum have been spoilt by the work put out by Rick, Dave, Mr Maltby Sir, Da, Del, Jens ........ Well, you get the picture. I think there is a tendency, sometimes, to have foolishly high expectations of other products (payware, freeware or whatever), and we (collective Forum time noun) can get a little over-critical - WE might see it as constructive criticism, but if you are not use to the individual idiosyncracies of the people who post here (and, boy, are we an idiosyncratic bunch :roll: ) it doesn't always come across that way. Inevitably people elsewhere can start to get a little defensive about comments made, however well meaning they are.

If you read the posts here and, for example, at the Outhouse about some recent Alphasim releases, or Itosans recent output, you would think they were about completely different products! Maybe we can be a little over sensitive about Brit aviation subjects.

Yes, Alphasim have let the ball drop a few times recently, but they will usually rectify the problem and it isn't difficult to redownload the patch. As I said earlier in this thread, DB made some valid comments about the Blenheim, they fixed them; I made some comments about the Javelin, Phil released extra versions. Taking the Scimitar, the nosewheel issue (which is about to be patched) has made Dan aware of a potential issue when exporting from Max.

So I'll be buying the Scimitar when it's patched, as we're unlikely to see one as good from another source. I won't be buying the Blenheim because, without the gunpack, it doesn't fill a hole on my system and I do know that we will see a better one from another source. ;-) Alphasim, for all their faults, have given us some good stuff. Let's hope they learn the lessons from some of the recent issues and don't get an Abacus-like reputation.
