Steve.. there's only one colour shot (a real phot) of a COD Gannet and like most of the other phots, it's of a less than ideal quality  It's certainly not as blue as the colour plates and not as grey as the blue/grey. I'll scan the page with the colour shot and try to tweak it in for you ;-)
I've tried but am still not really happy with the end result. Thing is, the phot may well be 'off' too so it's almost a case of how long is a piece of string  Here's the colour phot anyway..
Great re-paints, just a shame about the model! Perhaps we ought to campaign over at Alphasim, Phil has always had a soft spot for FAA stuff, a Gannet with a VC to land on to the Ark.............whoooa! :prayer:
Cheers for the pic, Dave. I suppose you're right - it's the age-old problem we've faced on here before - how to match that elusive shade that no one seems to know for sure. I will ask an RN source that helped me when I started on the Gannet - he seemed to know the BSC breakdown for the normal two-tone FAA scheme, so might know summat about the COD blue. I think I will throw a touch more blue in there, but not that much, as that last pic you sent shows it pretty close to bue grey I used (at least to my eye).
Anyway, glad they are going down well, even if the model has raised an eyebrow or two. Not being a modeller myself, I'm not going to blast it too much, however simming-wise I think the airfile needs a lookover as she handles a bit like an Extra 300!

Yeah we could, but that would be payware, right? :-(
That shot is most definately a grey/blue (or is that a blue/grey) and is very close to how our Wessex used to be painted. I've never seen a COD Gannet in the flesh but all the descriptions of it say grey/blue (blue/grey) and although the colour phots and plates show something almost completely different.. I'd be inclined to go with your shot as being there, despite it being taken indoors where again.. colours will distort.
Here's the 'scan' version of the shot I posted above. It doesn't look half as blue as it does in the Warpaint book but it does look much closer to Techy's shot above..
