WELL SAID MIKE!!

That's a shame Simon :sad: Little positive to say from the guy's that have it although HC said he thought the Mossie wasn't too bad.

Rick talked about making one a while back (a flight of fancy I fear as he still has .. and had then.. an huphill struggle trying to get through his current list of things to do!!) and I think even DaveG has considered one at some point. Now.. wouldn't a Mossie from either of these two blow your pants off!!! FREE TOO!!!

Never mind. If anyone else get's the package, please post your comments here

The other mind boggling thing (and I checked this up in "Bases of Bomber Command - Then and Now):

For a WWII package, Scampton has an extraordinarily long runway. In fact, about as long as it was extended to in the 60's! And it has only two runways (according to that book it had three laid in 1943/4, and I assume the E-W (third) runway was dug up when the 60s runway was laid...).

It's sad to say, but all these problems seem to stem from poor research - just like they did with the Spitfire... :roll:

Couldn't agree more. I don't want to slam it mercilessly - and looking back over my posts, it looks a BIT like that. I am sure a LOT of hard work has gone into this, all of it well intentioned, but there are many silly errors which while not obvious to many, scream out to others who have studied the aircraft in detail. The nose is the biggest thing. After having a fit of 'is it just me?' - I've been pouring over my books and drawings and it is just plainly wrong. And it's not as if the Lanc is the most obscure of aircraft ... maybe difficult to model, but not obscure like maybe a Whiteley

I was expecting the definitive Avro Lancaster at this price point - and this isn't it.

I'll give it another go and decide Tuesday whether or not to 'send it back' - if they are made aware by enough people of the errors it may get a patch ...

I feel exactly the same way, but having parted with Â£30 for it I hope that they will be open to constrctive criticism and rectify the errors pointed out. As you say, they are relatively minor, but to someone who knows the aircraft quite well, do remove some of its credibility...

...and I still can't work out why (apart from the prototype and the Aeronavale variants) they've duplicated the models done by EW. Could they have not got the reference books out and perhaps made a postwar ASR/MR Lancaster, or a Tiger force model, or the long range Lanc?

Picking up on H-Cs comments, regarding research, the Spitfire and 'missed' models on the Lancaster package.

The Spitfire package came in for a fair amount of (justified) criticism when it was released. To be fair to Bazzar and his team at AH they listened and the final patched versions are pretty good. And don't forget that extra models did come along, including the floatplane Spitfire.

So if we all treat this positively (note I said 'all', not singling anybody out, 'phew') and those who have the package report their findings constructively we may well see the necessary patches and, who knows, maybe some extra models.

Still doesn't alter my decision, as Ed's Lancasters are fittling the bill for me. If Bazz and the team went with a serious of Mossies, well then who knows.

Indeed, which is why I've offered some constructive criticism, and some positive impressions, over on the JF forums... Hopefully they can pick it up quite quickly this time, rather than fobbing some people off...

LOVE the Mossie ( Lanc ain't too bad either though it hits on performance quite a lot because of the huge amount of bitmaps used ( i think....) could count about 70 in the FS9/Texture folder plus 9 in the regular Lanc texture folders, that's about 80...my gawd.. :roll: ) but really would like to have something done about the non animated spinners..

Awkward sight as the propblades halfway 'cut thru them' ... Static small spinner hubs are no prob if textured correctly but these guys are HUGE and textured with various shades which ain't helping much in believing the're actually supposed to be spinning.. :think:

Nontheless i think it's GREAT to finally have a nice full blown Mossie to fly in FS finally. While i really like the Lanc soundsuite that comes with the package, the Mossie one falls sadly behind.... i'll certainly try the suggestions made here, thanks !

Say, were the real Mossie Merlins really turing in the same direction and not counterwise like with the P-38 f.i. ??

In short and IMHO :

Mossie GREAT !
Lanc great but needs some nursing.. a fair amount..

Yes the mossie merlins did not counter rotate.
it'a question of design and Dh where masters of balance and poise

If i didn't have to buy yet another Lancaster i would love to buy the mossie.

How's the little British Monoplane coming on Jan ? (Can't remember which it was :redface: )
