I did a comparison of the airports in FSW and FSX. FSX has 24491 airports, FSW has 4308 airports. Of those 4308 airports, every one exists in the FSX airport database at the exact same location. On comparing deeper into the data, I found only two airports have any modifications at all, FANC and LGSO have some changes to their runway data. So basically, the airport database is not getting any significant updates as far I we can see in 'Early Access'.

If it only has 4308, then they must be culling from somewhere other than the US, because I found representations of all the local airports around Wichita Falls, including 2 "private strips" that don't exist anymore. I haven't checked to see whether or not the R/C flying field on the south side of the Chatfield Reservoir is still in it or not, however I'm hoping that some of the culling was removing some of those "abandoned airstrips" and R/C fields that somehow made it into the airport data that MS used for their releases.

Well, I wouldn't have put it quite like that Dave. Duxford is a family place, after all.

I used fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, fanatical devotion to the Pope etc etc but no luck. Lewis remained enigmatic and inscrutable as a Sphinx. Either that or he doesn't know himself. Seriously though, he didn't reveal anything, so A2A's commercial confidentiality is in safe hands. He did say X-plane 11 is quite good, however, and he's the only person I know who has every flightsim platform installed on his computer, so he's able to make informed comparisons. I might get the demo. ;)

Edit: Oh, and despite my pleadings, and buying him a cuppa, still no plans for an A2A B-29. :(

Please disregard this. I had used Peter Dowson's MakeRunways program to extract the data and most of the European and North American airports I could remember the codes for are not in the data that I extracted. Sorry for jumping to conclusions.

I purchased it and used my points up with JF. I can operate it OK on my PC with a 760GTX card and it runs smoothly on maxed out graphics. Getting 27+ frame rates. However a couple of queries if I want to start at a parking spot how do I. As to the airport question both Stornoway and Benbecula are there but I have not delved deeper yet. I am not moaning as it is beta and no doubt they will sort out the colour of the textures but I seem to remember FSX was/is like that in its out the box form. Took over 24 hours to download though.
