Thanks George,
All I'm told is that I have the latest version of Essentials 2012. I can't UN - install Essentials, Movie Maker or Photo Gallery, to clean up the system because they aren't listed.
The blasted thing keeps putting OneDrive back on when I try "wls-all" (OneDrive IS listed, and can be removed)
I used System Mechanic to check and fix any registry problems. Still the same.
Movie Maker and Photo Gallery were specifically installed; I watched the progress bar complete its sweep, I get the message that all is OK, but neither of them are in any prog list.
I was able to d/l and install on Mrs Airspeed's computer, but mine - no no no! :wall: :wall:
I'll attempt to copy Mrs' installation into "public" files, and see if I can grab it off our Home Network.

Thats a bit of a blow (or harder words to the same effect Mike). Can you copy Mrs Airspeeds exe file onto a USB stick & then use it from there?

Mike
Those programs are listed in the "features" list
In the control panel window ..Look for- Turn window features on or off . Click that.
It'll take a few minutes before Windows finds them all.

Look for the features you want to disable and check the box in front of the descriptive.

Cheers

Joe

Ah, Gentlemen, I thank you for your responses. ;)
I put the file into our public area, but when I look from mine, it's not visible.
I have a whole album of screenies now, to prove to myself that I'm not totally insane.

As I've noted, None of them, or "Windows Essentials 2012" or anything like it, appear in Control Panel Prog. list, or in the Start button list.
I don't want to dampen anybody's enthusiasm for helping, but I've even had a 45 minute on line chat with the W help desk.
Outcome: This is a complex matter, would you like the $80 help, or the $120 help?
Answer - neither, I'm living off the age pension.
OK, we'll send you links to the Advanced Troubleshooting, which is what we would do, but you would have to do the work. This will no doubt fix your problem.
That's fine, I have time, not money.
The first link was to the community questions, and was, wait for it.......my query posted only hours ago!!!
The other links are also to the community Q&A; so much for Advanced Troubleshooting!
Joe, from this list, which one would you pick? :dunno:

Mike..

A bit late on parade here. From what I can see above.. you've d/l and installed Movie Maker but you can't get at it.. eg, it's not available in your programs/start menu. Can you locate it on the laptop.. C:\Programs would be a good place to start. Rather odd it's come down the line but isn't making itself available :dunno: If it is in your Program folder.. see if you can run it from the executable there.

Dave, Mike, only just come on and have not read previous posts in thi sthread since my last one so pease excuse me if I am writing dribble!! 8)

Mike, when I downloaded Movie Maker at the computer shop it did not appear anywhere either on desktop or the start menu. I had to go into the Folder of Movie Maker and grabbed hold of the exe, right clickied on the icon and put the short cut onto the desktop.

All te best
Nigel.

I think Mike is trying to get rid of his MM latest version in order to install the older W7 compatible version. I need to fire up my old W7 m/c to locate it in order to uninstall.
Keep you posted.
Keith

OK update from my W7 machine: My Control panel does list Windows essentials 2012 in the programs listing. Its V 16.4.3528.0331.

The Windows features list I have ticked are:
IE11
Media features & the 3 sub boxes
Remote differential components
Tablet PC components
Windows Gadget platform
Windows search
XPS services
XPS View
Blocked squares are:
MS Net framework
Print & Doc sevices.

My Movie Maker.exe is located in C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\Movie Maker.exe

2nd edit, just checked my W8.1 movie maker version within windows essentials & its the same version as loaded in my W7 m/c, so no help at all as to why it will not work on yours Mike, although you could try the Admin set up or even run in compatibility mode?
I notice you have the photo gallery/movie maker shown in your top screenie.

Once again, ta!
If it would show its head, I would happily launch it from the .exe and create a shortcut.
Below is what I get when I do a C: search. The Barra files are the actual movies made with MM when it worked briefly. Clicking on them now results in "can't open file" or similar.
Just to clarify, and refresh, Keith, I got rid of the 2011 version early on, after which 2012 worked for a day or so. When I tried to get it going again, I was told that it was moved or deleted.
The "top" screenie is from the installation process, telling me which components of Essentials 2012 are installed, and that OneDrive is not installed.
So, it won't install again because they are "already there", but no search for "Essentials" "Photo Gallery" or "Movie Maker" (with or without capitals), will show me where they are.
One of the suggestions was to uninstall, then reinstall. I can't uninstall, because it won't show on the list of Programs & Features. :OB:
