Weird Somebody did say that RAAF had one.

Looking at web browsing history of my web browser, I found proof as seen below that world famous Jankees himself said in his words:
It is probably not very well known that the RAAF operated one KC-97 in the late '60's to see if refuelling would be an option for the RAAF, which suffered under the 'tyranny of distance'. They borrowed one from the USAF, registered it A97-1 (what's in a name?) and performed a series of secret tests in the vast interior of the country. In the end, they converted a number of Boeing 707's for the refuelling role.

Aharon

Aharon, you may very well be correct, but I've googled every combination of RAAF, KC-97 and A97-1 I can, and found nothing about it: no articles or pictures. If the RAAF did carry out secret trials with the KC-97, the secret has been kept very well ! :)

I dunno :) I am just telling you what famous Jankees said and I know he has strict policy that he does not do fictional liveries. He believes in realism and accurate historical facts.

Hi Paul,
OK, just because I live here doesn't make me an expert, but as soon as I saw that screenshot, It struck me as false; I've never heard of it being in service here.
In my "Australian Airpower" book, which lists everything from Dh 9A to Chinook CH-47D, there's no entry.
Like you, I can find no web entries to support any RAAF usage.
Wiki includes this:
Operators
Spain
Spanish Air Force
Israel
Israel Defense Forces
United States
United States Air Force

I'm rather disappointed with Jankees, as I'm not a fan of "what if" paint jobs. "As real as it gets"? I don't think so. :|

And Dennis - this is you: bandit: :bandit: :bandit:

That hole is where the fuel goes in. :agree:

BTW, quite a big news item tonight about the physical damage to RAAF personnel due to jet fuel. Be careful what you drink. :guinn:

Pals pals pals chaps chaps chaps

Does it matter? We all should be grateful for Jankees' hundreds of painted liveries that he has done for all of us at NO CHARGE and he is still continuing painting for all of us for FREE. If he makes one mistake, so what? It is just innocent oversight. We should be thankful for Jankees' amazing volunteer hours spent on painting hundreds of thousands of liveries.

Remember the important rule of thumb: never piss off a volunteer painter or he or she will never paint for any of you again in future.

Regards.
