Think I've got it as close as I can and what a faff around it was too 8)

Image

I don't think I can get the horizontal stab painted as the real aircraft where the stub ends that protrude through the fins are split yellow/black. It doesn't help that the chap who's paint I've based this on did a complete background fill of black so I can't see JS on the map 8) Also.. there's one more thing I want to try but may leave.. the cabin window surrounds. We'll see :) Difficult to see why these maps are 2048. The only way you can see that level of detail and the entire aircraft is to have an aircraft sized monitor! 8) Anyhoo.. it kept me off the streets for another day ;)

Hi Dave thats looking very good, I did one for FS9 likewise I did the EC-135 P2 G-POLA and the ill fated G-WMAO for fs9 the later were used in UK2000 B'ham Xtreme scenery with a flight plan that was done for the new hangar. I hated FSX so as you know I never bothered with the Nemeth ones, they look good though. I have as aside installed VFR scenery again :-O but this time I spent ages installing the trees etc from around the net, it looks pretty good. It loads a bit quicker but the new CPU no doubt helps ;)
I have one last visit to Air Ops next week to hand in my warrant card airport pass etc so if any pics needed let me know. It will be a shame not to be airside anymore as I will miss that as much as the flying :(
Still onward and hopefully I will be starting Ocado next month...... I need a job

Hello Mate :hello:

I have to admit, I like the ND MD902 but.. these bloody textures drag my system to a halt. Last night, I flew it from Wolverhampton to Brum at dusk.. a time I rarely see in FS. I wanted to see the night textures for one. It flew ok.. no problems at all. I landed at Brum on the other side of the airport (old terminal parking) and watched one of my 2 installed traffic files working.. a Flybe Dash8 landing. While there, I decided to change the nav lights for 'no light' Shockwave Redux versions.. without closing the sim.. so went to change the aircraft and only half of them came up in 'Select Aircraft'.. a surefire sign my memory was low. I closed down FSCommander to try and get a bit more memory back and this appeared to work. Went to select aircraft again and chose G-HEMS while I fiddled with the aircraft.cfg of WMID. Changed the lights.. went back to have a look and again.. only half the aircraft were showing in select aircraft. I got to see the new lights (didn't like the full red glow on one side and full green glow on t'other but FSX shutdown shortly after telling me I'd run out of memory. Had this happen a few times recently. Looks like I dare not add anything else :( I may try and make 1024 maps for the 902 to see if this helps.

Understand your feelings about leaving. When I handed my ID card in at Pompey in '89.. it felt kinda surreal. I didn't know anyone in HMS Nelson so it was a bit different for me but still very odd to be handing it over.. my ID card and my gas mask.. the two things the mob wanted back. Leaving the pub game was a bit different.. we had to leave before it dragged us further into debt. I had no regrets when I started up the Luton and drove out of the car park for the last time knowing I'd never be going back there again. Now, some 10 months on.. 6 months were wasted waiting for the bus job to come to fruition.. this lasted a week as I hated driving the bloody things.. then I picked up a casual job with the RM at Wolverhampton which ended on Friday.. and I'm back on the job trail again. Two applications in at the mo.. one for a toll assistant position on the M6 toll and the other, for a postie job at Walsall. I've had the girls (Alison and Helen) looking out for driving jobs at Tesco and Asda but Asda only have 3 delivery trucks so it's dead mans shoes and Tesco don't have anything going. You'll be ok with Ocado. I'm sure the pay isn't exactly cutting edge but it's a job and that's what you need ;)

My cousins hubby was the head honcho Police driving instructor up at Leicester but his situation was similar to yours and he ended up leaving. Shortly after, the job was made 'civvie' so he applied for and got his old job back.. of sorts. They still don't know what they're doing. There may be 4 areas merged with 2 overall bosses and he may be one of those bosses. There may be 4 areas merged and he may end up in charge of all 4, alternatively, he may end up in charge of 2. This has been going on for 6months now and I still don't think he's any the wiser 8) What a palarva hey.. bureaucracy gone mad once more

Good luck to ya anyway mate

EDIT: I've pulled the 5 main maps down from 4 x 2048 and 1 x 1024 to 4 x 1024 and 1 x 512..

To be brutally honest, I can't see the bloody difference.. not for every day use anyway. The bonus is, each of the 2048 maps were chugging along at 4mb each and they're now at 1mb each as 1024 :)

Hi Dave, sorry about the bus job :( I looked at that as well, if only to get a licence to drive old biddies on coach holidays!
Job front is tough and I cant see it getting any better, the economy is only good if your stinking rich, it seems Robin Hood in modern day times is taking off the poor to give to the rich
I cant see why they have the textures so big???? I reckon DXT3 if thats allowed in FSX .... I am so glad I am FS9 only and didnt believe that bullsh1t emperors cloths crap about FSX

Hello Mate :hello:

Yup.. the bus job was a pi$$er. I expected to jump in and drive it as I've done everything else but I never felt confident and knowing I'd be carrying Joe Public made it worse. In the end, it took so long to come to it's start, I was anti National Express and didn't have my heart in it. Thing is, I'd waited so long for the process to work out, I was kinda stuck. They were good enough to say that should I wish to continue and take private instruction, to give them a bell and they'll 'fast track' me back. It's an option I guess even though it'll cost me close on £2k to go through the rigmarole with an outside instructor. Should have gone for Arriva first time round  Given my time again, I'd have gone for a driving/delivery job with Sainsburys at Cannock. We'd have had Sainsburys, Asda and Tesco sewn up as family jobs then!

These huge texture maps are bo11ocks aren't they. They're great when you're studying a model from a few feet away but useless for most of the time. DG's textures for the QW146/RJ are 4096 (no.. you didn't read wrong.. 4096!) and they actually stop the 146 from loading on my system. Well.. the aircraft will load but the gauges won't. Seems the race is on to get the highest res texture maps in the galaxy with many companies now.. Carenado are one that spring to mind having models with HD suffixes 8) The ND MD902 also pulls around 4mb Spec and 4mb bump .dds files for each of the maps too. The world has gone mad mate.. completely mad. My paints for the FSchHeli Alouette are good old DXT3 dragged from FS9

Slightly off topic, although on the same subject, here's a short video of ours taking off after having landed to give first aid to a suicidal missing person who they found in a field inaccessible by ambulance and who, due to the lay of the land, we'd have not seen searching by foot.

I can say with 100% certainty that we'd have not found her until it was too late without the assistance of the heli. She was spotted by the same observer who once jumped out of the hovering helicopter into a flooded river to rescue a drowning lady!!

Thanks for that Rob  Didn't realise you had a 135 too. If it's not available (I don't have it).. I'll have to knock that one up to add to the collection. Police helicopters are becoming the biggest collection I have on FSX
