SP1 fixed what were, by and large, annoying, but non-fatal bugs in the program as a result of Microsoft forcing ACES to release on DX9 instead of DX10 and the problems that arose from rebuilding the entire program in 6 weeks. But it still came out of the box and ran better than what the initial X-Plane 10 demo did on my system. SP2 added more features than it fixed bugs in the form of the DX10 "preview". It was a "hey, we want to show you what could have been had we not been forced to release", not a "hey there's a bunch of bugs and missing features we need to add in that we promised at release." I'm not bashing the program, but I am saying that the sentiment that you're basically paying for a BETA isn't far off because they continue to release versions that aren't nearly as polished as other similarly priced programs and require far more patching just to reach what was promised by the release PR. At least with FSX ACES came out and explained the situation and said what was being removed from the final release due to the loss of DX10.airboatr wrote:Bolderdash!
FSX SP1 and SP2 were needed to fix the 1% of the game that was broke?
I hope you wear your oversized load placard when you're out on the ramp

It is going to be a conversion of either the BAe JS4100, the NGX or the [secret project: censored].
This is good news for the X-Plane community and X-Plane developers. The involvement of experienced FSX developers will have a positive effect on some of the comments discussed above. There are concerns:Robert S. The most important thing for any of us is that we have a good platform on which to build scenery, fly aircraft, and otherwise thoroughly enjoy ourselves. I sincerely hope this is good news for everyone, and that it increases the likelihood of a good alternative in future.Robert S. There will never be a consumer version of P3D, and as such it is not reasonable or feasible for us to expect the major market to exist on P3D beyond a small set of folks who don't mind the niche nature and the price tag.
