Hi Leif
Tks for that. On some of the B&W shots I have, LAMS looks almost Navy Blue so this seemed a good compromise ;-) The Warpaint profile is WAY off showing the colour to be light blue.. along the lines of the original paint!
As for the other airlines.. I need to get my hands on issues 58, 60, 62 and 64 of Propliner as the Halifax/Halton story continues in those.. drat!

I'm sure we have them at Brooklands though I gather one of the crew (associated with the type) has 'borrowed' them. Back issues are available so if all else fails.. I'll buy those issues ;-)
I'll see what I can dig up about the Swiss registered aircraft and the LAC written off at Newcastle
EDIT..
One bit of info I've found says 'Air Globe' operated the Halifax/Halton but this may actually be Globe Air ;-)

I guess your info about Swiss machines is from
http://www.network54.com/Forum/261665/t ... fax+C8%27s
Globe Air seem only to have been around from 1962 to 1967 but another mention of Air Globe appears here - whether one source repeats the other

Hi Ian
Not sure if I'm seeing that last link 100% but it looks like a Greek (or similar) version of wiki.. where I found the first reference to Air Globe. However, chasing the links proved fruitless and Googling Air Globe brought up pages and pages of 'Fresh' Air Globe refil adverts

Perhaps Globe Air is what became of Air Globe but thus far.. I've seen absolutely nowt on it as an airline

Dave, what do you reckon the chances are of doing a Lancashire Aircraft Corporation repaint ? Looks quite attractive in the book. Any idea what the colours were ?

Hi Paul
Yes mate.. I have the full intention of covering as many airlines as possible and LAC is one. I have a vague ref at the mo to suggest the fuse was silver and the striping/cheatline/wording was orange/red but I really need a nose/three-quarter shot to confirm where the cheat goes. Hopefully, getting my hands on Propliners 58 soonish which covers LAC ;-) I know that one of the LAC Halifax/Haltons was named the 'Brown Bomber' due to it's 'dire' brown hue. Can't think of the reg at the mo but it'll come

LAC had a reasonable sized fleet so I'll cover as many as I can
BTW.. any of you considering getting the Corgi 1:72 60th Anniversary G-ALEF beware. It's a lovely model but wrong in so many ways. A pity really considering the b1oody things are far from cheap :-( Wrong wing ends.. incorrect Eagle titles.. rudder colours dubious.. aerial added that shouldn't be there on that version. The picture on the box is of the pre-release model and is more accurate than the model in the box! A similar thing happened some years ago when they planned to do the One-Eleven. Mucho info was gathered from Brooklands and away they went returning some months later with something much less than the total of the information received. They were told as such and the One-Eleven never went public. I really wish our Rick worked for Corgi ;-)

Does this help for the LAC scheme?
http://www.wwrgallery.co.uk/proddetails ... ge=&topID=
From same page as 'HZJ
http://www.wwrgallery.co.uk/category.as ... facturer=0
G-AKEC is in black/white in British Independent Airlines since 1946 and looks the same as that colour plate. Based on the accompanying text, the "73" is possibly the race number for the Daily Express Air Race in 1950, so not usually carried? Video of 1951 Air Race at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/archive/aerialjour ... =1&id=5304. Must have been interesting to see a Halifax taking part under these conditions!
In same book, G-AIHV is shown in a different scheme with twin fuselage stripes - do you have access to this book?

Hi Ian
Yup.. I already have all of those references. I don't want much do I

Still working my way through the LAMS paints at the mo.. AIWJ, AIWK, AIWR and AIWT done plus a slight rehash of Red Eagle (though more info on the latter is within my grasp) ;-) Tks anyway for those

A lovely painting of 'Falkirk' Brian
As it happens.. I've already had a go at the original paint as a couple of things were duff (Falkirk instead of FALKIRK for one!) ;-) Actually.. I might relegate EP as my wallpaper and replace it with that lovely piccie ;-)
