On another related note, the latest GeForce drivers include recommended settings for P3D (I haven't tried them yet though.) They are only available from within the GeForce driver, not from within the GeForce experience software. :agree:

As you well know, I don't have P3D but I also downloaded the latest Nvidia driver earlier this evening and it did seem to make Win7 look a little crisper while making it 'seemingly' a bit faster too. Not tried FSX yet but this might be a good'un :)

I followed Ben's advice regarding installation of the NVidia drivers and letting P3D re-write the Prepar3D.cfg file (likewise I had to add the AI Aircraft folder path).
I'm now noticing much steadier FPS with the setting at unlimited (around 50 to 53 with the occasional drop to around 42 Using the Carenado BARON 58). Previously this was bouncing around anywhere from 20 to 75, resulting in me having to set it to 34 to get a steady performance.

Ben, do you mean the NVidia Control Panel?

Hi Kevin,

Yep, that's what I was meaning, but I'm beginning to wonder if its something I added in myself :worried: I can't remember TBH.

George, RE the ships, it seems hit and miss, and I'm not sure why. Some of the ships are working and others are not, even with the same effects file. I'll need to check the sim.cfg. Some picture below, note that in the last one I increase the wind to stormy, not the sea! I really like this

I dunno if something is being lost in the screenies that's there 'in sim' Ben but those last shots don't look real at all.. more like the Mighty Hunter plastic model superimposed on a poor sea background though the last one is a bit less so. It must look much better than that otherwise you'd not have highlighted it as a 'plus' :cpu:

My hat goes off to you all again for remaining enthusiastic about it. All the time I read 'Well done LM' for this and that and yet it still appears to be 'broken'. I remember versions of Flightsim being released and M$ being dragged over the coals yet LM seem shockproof, waterproof and skid resistant

I know what you mean Dave, I am now installing FSX as a fall back option although I did not want to.

I've gone back to FSX now. I did like P3dV2.0, even with the bugs, but although V2.1 has fixed many of those, the new XML parser has made many add-ons not work properly. I know that it's not really LMs fault as they have just tightened up on the syntax so properly written code should still function, but most of the aircraft I like to fly are now knackered until the devs fix them, if that ever happens. 8)
If that had been done with the original V2.0 release, then fair enough, it's a new sim, I'd expect some stuff not to work, but to introduce it in a point release when they claimed they were working with 3rd party devs to improve backward compatibility in some cases seems a bit off to me.
