There were a number of letters to the editor of the Times yesterday on this subject. One was from a Brian Christley, ex - concorde chief technical instructor.

A tad OTT me thinks BT.
Certain individuals, the space programme and the 747. Not a lot you like is there!!
Before this turns into a transatlantic slagging match, it's worth noting that we are all on the same side.. even though it doesn't often seem that way :roll: In terms of the Concorde issue, what the two guys here have stated is without doubt correct. While it is easy for our US friend to dismiss a noisey protest outside JFK as a few oddballs with nothing better to do, the lobby was also strong within the US government. Whether any US senator would stand and be counted is debatable.. much the same as our own fine MP's on this side of the pond. No one wants to be seen as 'the one that did it'.. even years after the event.

I don't think it's OTT though, the Americans are masters of OTT.

Anyways I think the points have been made now
I only want to challenge the save it in the States comment and had no intention of it developing into what is is.
So I for one am going to leave this one there.
Shame though it is, the Concorde will not fly again and as I said earlier the best we can do is support the ones in musuems in any way we can.

For point Garry, you continue to also dismiss (quite easily) the fact that I never said the US only in ANY of my statements about the possibility for Concorde to fly again. You might want to go back and read it again, because I was quite clear in that I said-
The US or Canada.
So to make this a UK vs US or Europe vs US is to ignore what was originally stated which was the regulations in the UK and Europe towards "historic" aircraft versus the regulations in North America.
