Not for me, thanks. Call me a grumpy old git if you will but there's only so much caring and sharing I'm interested in. If this is indicative of the thought they've put into Windoze 10 given MS's security track record, no ta!

These comments from others who have "upgraded" may or may not help ...

FSX Acceleration -

FSX DX9 and DX10 -

ACOF / FS9 -

BUT there are various gotchas about which you should be aware -

For me, the biggest surprise was that for FS9 (and apparently CFS2) you have to use the no CD version of the .exe file (simply because, by default, there's not expected to be an optical drive on a typical Win10 machine ?). I'm not sure whether an external CD drive would get round this issue.

Anyway, for me there's no rush with any m$ update - I'll wait until at least SP1 is out before I make any move to Win10, or even WinX as some are saying ...

Thanks for those links, Ro. Interested to see what's happening.
I noted another familiar name over there, btw.
Funny how somebody posted that they thought they would have the option of installing or not, even though they reserved a copy. Today is 1st August and I've not even had a reminder that I reserved one, let alone been forced into an automatic update. :dunno:

Mike,
you're very welcome, and it's funny but that guy seems to pop up wherever we go ...

Apart from some of the results I quoted above, two things are noteworthy in that longish topic. One is the differences being experienced by the various users, part of which I'm sure is down to the sheer number of people who jump in at the earliest opportunity hitting the various servers at the same time. No wonder that m$ have sneaked in usage of the torrent system, which of course adds to the burden of users in the middle of their own upgrade ...

And the other is the number of posters in that topic who haven't read what's in front of them, and have made mostly incorrect assumptions about what is or should be happening. Part of the reason why I tried to pull out the pertinent facts for anyone who doesn't frequent there ...

MVH,
Ro

Some criticisms are now appearing.
The first I saw is that the games like solitaire that have been free since the Jurassic period have become 'freemium'. Either you put up with intrusive advertising or pay. It's the business model preferred by the Mafia, if you want to be left in peace you have to cough up. B)smk

This article talks about concerns with the default settings and lack of transparency of Windows 10 over privacy and how much information they will collect and share to bring you a personalised advertising experience.

Just as an update from me, everything is fine except...
I loaded up FSX, Fas Airlines, ASN and Concorde X and got a "fatal error has occurred" from FSX, several times.
I'm currently testing to see what's causing that.

Neither have I. But then we don't live in the US. There was a priority system I seem to remember reading about 1 month ago. Thankfully we may add let the Yanks and Brits do our testing of it for us.

Have just installed W10 onto my W8.1 laptop having d/led to a USB stick so I can use for my wifes laptop. Took 6 hours for the d/l at my ADSL snail speed & about 4 hours to install which included an update.

FS9 & FSX work OK as does gmax & Office 2010 stuff. Unfortunately AFSD & AAM v2.2 do not.
I deselected all of the send stuff/share with M$. Will now see how quickly it lights up, mind you W8.1 was quick & easy in any case.
I shall not be putting it onto my W8.1 tower though as I have the Enterprise version & if I've lost AAM & AFSD that a lot of dev tools missing!

Not come across anything that doesn't work yet, although there's still plenty I haven't tried, AAM & AFSD included. I'll have to check those out this evening.

Tried both AAM & ASFD last night, & both worked as they should. Did have a "permissions" issue with AAM not writing to it's config file, but that was quickly sorted.
