Mike, Have you read through NickN's post on tuning Windows and FS?

I don't implement all of Nick's suggestions. Not all are applicable to my situation , however using a handful I have a smooth running FSX.
On a i3 4gig intel graphics laptop.

Hi Joe :hello:
As a rule, I don't have any trouble running FSX.
The weird crashes that others report here are foreign to me.
I'm just a fiddler and twiddler.
The free 60 day trial is in my price range, so I thought it worth a nudge.
As I reported, I can only test it so far; if I had some of that other drive capacity, things may be different.
I'm certainly not going to get that stuff just to try it out.
I've used System Mechanic etc etc etc to tweak my system.
I'll look up NN's suggestions, can't recall whether or not I've used any of his tips.

Anyhow, thanks for the suggestion, Mate ;)

personally, you couldn't pay me to install those "elixirs" .. no telling what they add, change or re-configure.

But that's me. ;)

... you've never read Nick Needham's -- SETTING UP FSX and HOW TO TUNE IT. post? *-) hmm
well let me say he'''s rather blunt, but take it in stride .. he is well versed in windows and flight sim.
and Microsoft, Intel (MVP) and Nvidia and NASA , has two PhD's and bluh bluh. etc etc etc

PS.....no he doesn't need ham
