TB fair.. you'd probably expect 2004 scenery and aircraft to look better in it's own sim. Well I would anyway

Wise words as ever, Dave.

I know Mike was just having a bit of tongue-firmly-in-cheek fun but just in case anyone is thinking of making any serious comparisons using these screen shots, please don't! They were done for the specific purpose of showing the issue with the prop disc and nothing else. They were taken at different locations at different times with different lighting conditions, different weather settings, different screen resolutions and entirely different graphics settings. So there!

Pete,
The thing that stood out most for me when using the C182 prop texture in FSX was the shininess as though the material was chrome, & that seems to show in your P3D external screenshot. I think the apparent difference in dia is due to the coloured tips, although looking at the textures my prop tip circle is slightly larger within the square.
Suggestion, you obviously have photoshop, but do you also have DXTbmp programme? If so I would suggest that you unscramble my texture into its two parts using DXTbmp, & then gradually change the alpha white (which is matt alpha in 2004) to a light grey which might be a compromise because I think black as in the C182 prop alpha is too much.

It does look though that P3D gives a very similar response as does FSX, So I might try a little experimentation again in FSX & hope it might cross over to P3D.
Will keep you posted.
Keith

I'm sure I can find something somewhere to do that. I'll give your suggestion a try.

Thanks again.

Did you get the correct sound file for the PProv. Pete?

I certainly have it(the PProv. is one of my fave.Fs9 "rides"),so if you're still struggling
drop me a pm and I'll fix you up.

If it's of any interest to you,I was main beta test pilot for Keith(Dev One)on the PProv,
so can recommend it heartily to you(well I would eh  ).
Keith and I amassed as much real flight data for it as possible and Keith did a very good job
indeed,it really is pretty much 99.99% right on the money.

Yes, thanks, Keith sent me the single Leonides sounds and he's busy at the moment sorting out the black prop disc issue in P3D.

Yep!
Thanks to Pete for testing remotely, I have cured the black prop disc for P3D without affecting its use in FS9 or FSX.
For info: I made the disc 11% transparent in Gmax, rendering it using Gmax material ( As I do for my glass). The yellow tip disc done likewise. For Prop_still & Prop_slow, that was rendered as usual having a texture in the texture folder.

I gather though that not all other things will work in the VC in P3D because its a FS9 portover. Cannot check myself as don't have P3D.

If anyone else would like the model update PM me. If there are a lot I might place an update somewhere.

I think we all like happy endings so here's a couple of screen shots of the Provost in P3D v1.4 showing Keith's hard work on the black prop disc problem over the last couple of days - made all the more impressive by the fact that he doesn't have P3D and had to use some (inspired?) guesswork. Well done Keith!

While I'm on the subject of saying 'thank you', it never ceases to amaze me how members of this forum are willing to step-up in support of Tangmere including DaveG and Rick Piper for permission to use their freeware aircraft, NascarSteve for permission to use his payware Canberra and our own DaveB for collecting, converting and assembling the Portsmouth Dockyard and surrounding area scenery some of which is visible in the screenshots. To this list (I hope I haven't forgotten anyone) I can now add Dev One. On behalf of Tangmere, thank you all.
