Scotflight v3 includes the RAF stuff as well. Its a really easy install now too. Just delete what you had before, run the v3 installer and it will ask you for license keys for the previous products (if you bought the upgrade) and install everything afresh. I've only got GenX part 8, so ill check and see what it looks like in the non GenX covered areas later and post some picks if it would help.

Cheers Ben

I had a look over at Scotflight today and I'm no less baffled now than I was before!
Incidentally.. the Scotflight RAF Airfields JD referred to wouldn't have had Binbrook in it anyway would it?? I thought that title only included RAF Airfields in Scotland

I think Gary Summons also had an RAF release.. this being one of the few I never bought

I know what you mean about the confusion, Dave, but fortunately, I don't use GenX, so it's pretty straightforward for me.
I have started with the original and got as far as v2.1 with upgrades - and that doesn't have the RAF Airfields in it.
Well, okay, it does have RAF airfields, but only those in Scotland such as Lossie, Leuchars, Kinloss etc - and no AI.
So he must have put them all together for v3. Bit of a swine making it so you couldn't buy the RAF airfields for your v2.1, though. That would usually make me not buy it come hell or high water (I hate crafty 'marketing' like that) but I'll have to go and have a look and see how much he wants to take from my empty wallet.
It's one thing if something is released in time for a new version, but releasing it for v2 then withdrawing it from sale so you have to buy v3 complete is just not nice.
EDIT What the..? Thirty five flipping quid for an upgrade from v2.1 to v3!!!! That's taking the royal pee!
No thanks.

Okay, okay - that is the upgrade price if you have the photo scenery version (still a bit steep, though, imo) - I just bought the standard version upgrade for a tenner. That's much better!
I might be tempted by this version, for P3D and FTX, too:
http://www.scotflightscenery.com/Purchase15.htm
Further edit (I really ought to find it all out first, eh?)
It seems the RAF airfields are not a part of the standard scotflight scenery packages - you have to purchase them separately:
http://www.scotflightscenery.com/Product1.htm
You do get better airfields in standard Scotflight, but not to the extent of the extra airfields pack.
At least, that's how it seems to me!

I'll be certain once I've tested v3 in FSX - it's just finished downloading.

I thought £35 was a bit steep too JD.. the main reason I didn't go down that path
As far as I can remember, the RAF airfields were never part of the Scotflight scenery as such. The basic scenery is VFR. What I don't understand is that there appears to be 4 VFR areas now and I'm sure there has only been one before. The more I think about it, the more confused I become!

What I AM sure about is that Scotflight for FS9 included all the airfields in Scotland (well, most of them anyway) with the exception of the RAF stations. What appeared to be the same product for FSX doesn't include all the airfields. A lot of them yes, but as many as there were in the FS9 version, no. As already mentioned, the Highlands and Islands are not part of v2 or v2.1 (the photo version to cover GenX vol4). I dunno why this is and I didn't want to cough up a Kings purse to get the missing airfields.
Looking at the list at Scotflight, I think I could buy VFR4 which would give me the airfields I have now in the GenX vol8 area but they'd be GenX compatible. I'm sure I've seen the v3 photo scenery before and while it adds the missing airfields, they're mis-placed unless you have photo scenery in that area. It's just too complicated for my pea-sized brain
EDIT: Right.. I've gone through the FAQ's there and for me to upgrade from 2.1 photo, it says I need v3 with photo license.. £34.99. No sir-ee Bob.. not in these trousers or anyone else's for that matter

Must admit the updates have been a bit tricky to figure out in the past, but I've always kept current and the updates have usually been about a tenner, and well worth it for me. If in doubt, ask Iain. Tell him what you've got (if anything) and tell him what you want and he'll tell you what to buy. He's not the sort to market or hoodwink anyone, its simply that the way the updates evolved, the whole thing got a bit complicated. It is much easier now.

Well, this is the point mate. I can't remember when I got the last update info from Scotflight.. it's been years

I got v1 for FSX as soon as it came out. There may have been a patch for it.. then v2. In fact, v2 may have been the first FSX version which was then patched to 2.1. All the FS9's were v1 as far as I remember.. I still have them installed in FS9.
I appreciate the way Horizon released the Scotland volumes made it difficult for him to keep up but I still can't see why the Highlands and Islands were missed off the original release. I presumed they'd pop-up at a later date but I've never seen an upgrade to include the 'missing' airfields.. just the missing airfields if that makes sense. I've certainly never received email notification of such an upgrade anyway and I don't frequent the Scotflight forums. When the first Scottish GenX came out (vol4).. he released Scotflight v2.1 as an upgrade and I presume that 2.2 - 2.5 are for GenX vols 5 thru 8 which thus far, I'd not got. Scotflight v3 includes the Highlands and Islands and a couple of additional civvie airfields plus the RAF Airfields (AFAIK) and this seems to have been £35 throughout.. as it is now with the photo license. I've seen nothing there for a tenner so I don't know what JD has bought

As far as I can see, if you want the Highlands and Islands.. you have to have v3.. there is no other way of getting them. For this, you HAVE to have the old RAF Airfields series included whether you want them or not and to be honest.. I can do without them. It all seems so b1oody untidy
EDIT: I've definitely lost the plot with this. Having just been back there (to Scotflight) FSX v1 is labelled the Highlands and Islands. I need a beer

Righty, I had v2.1 which I upgraded to 2.31 (photo) and subsequently to 2.4 photo. Separately I had Scotflight RAF (I had all the FS9 stuff too, but I wont go into that to avoid confusion

)
Firstly at the bottom of the products page is "I already have a Scotflight product which I wish to upgrade" So I clicked on this.
next I clicked on the product that I would like to upgrade, so I chose the latest one that I had; "Scotflight for FSX 2.4 photo"
Next I clicked on "...to V3.0 photo"
£7.49 (A tenner was an approximation

)
I had to enter my license key for 2.4 photo into the installer and the license key for my RAF Airfields and it installed the lot as a single install. Job done.

I've just been back through my emails now.. those on my Hotmail that I've not deleted! I bought vol1 (Highlands and Islands) 19.7.2007. There was a subsequent upgrade/patch to v1.2 23.7.2007. The next receipt I can find is for vol2 23.5.2009. No sign of one for ver 2.1 photo but I may have used my BT address for that and those emails are long gone. I did find notification of v2.3 release on 2.5.12 to bring it in line with current (then) GenX areas.. £9.99 if I had v2.2 or £19.99 if I had v 2.1. There seemed no point in the upgrade as I didn't/don't have those GenX areas.
Somewhere along the line.. my Vol1 has disappeared (although I still have the exe somewhere). Do I still have a key for it.. I b1oody well doubt it

It (vol1) must have gone walkies during the v2 upgrade.. that's the only explanation I can think of.
I'm gonna go back to Scotflight and take a screenie of the upgrade page!
EDIT.. There ya go.

It aint cheap if you're going from 2.1 and I've no idea where my 'key' is for it anyway. That particular pc has been in bits for years (though I still have the bits)

I lost my keys ages ago, but still had some of the emails, so I emailed Ian, and he sorted me out with a new key. He is a helpful chap.
