You can easily create a "dummy" airport and use the "Split compile" feature. Throw away the airport bgl and use the objects bgl for the scenery.

In fact I use Afcad2 to create routes for AIBTC rather than GE.

Here are the ships at Portsmouth:

I've taken the first step and downloaded SAMM2. Not sure how many other steps there are going to be though

Do you use SAMM2 to convert full models to statics then use Instant Scenery to place them or do you use ISv2 for the whole procedure?

I'm sure I had IS once upon a time but it must have been for FS9 as that's the only thing I remember adding scenery to. No idea where it is now mind you and when I tried the same scenery in FSX (again, donkies ago) it didn't like it much

Dave,
Sorry I wasn't on line earlier, lots of vegetable gardening going on here.
All my early work was done using SAMM2 alone.
Check the few steps I listed yesterday - when you make the bgl, it gives you a screen showing lat, long, heading, etc. Type your co-ordinates in, being SURE that you have the exact required position to 5 decimal places. If that's in the sea, it's no problem; that's where I placed my first 2 or 3, so they weren't hidden under buildings. I only spent the dosh on IS2 because I had to pack the 8 aircraft in tightly, and it took a fraction of the time. If I just wanted to drop a ship in the ocean, I would not have bothered with the payware. SAMM2 does it all. If you need to nudge the ship up against a wharf or pier, just go back to SAMM and tweak the co-ords, you'll soon find how far the object moves when you change by .0004 or whatever.

Dave, you popped in as I was off posting a pic to photobucket, hope this helps.
The "place" screen appears when you hit the bgl button

Thanks Mike :)

I saw that shot in my brief look through the SAMM2 instructions this morning. Altitude will be easy for me

Yes.. or I could end up with a selection of submersibles

George.. while you're here, I found goff_fort_1 over at Allnodes the other day and tried to install it.. without luck I might add. Then, having read the distructions again, I realised it's a scenery object 'to be placed' rather than a 'placed' scenery object. Have you tried plonking any of these down the Solent? Before Spinnaker Tower, they were the most famous landmarks of the area and even now, the Solent without them would look mighty odd. You could just about make out where they were in the original VFRPhoto Scenery for FS9 but the water in FSX hides them. I guess they could be placed using coordinates from Google Earth though :)

EDIT: Google Earth goes a bit gooey in the Solent but you can just make out one. This ref gives the locations of all 4.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:S ... the_Solent :)

Hi Dave,

I have coordinates for Spibank and Horse Sand. Which of these is the larger? There are two models, Fort 1 and Fort 2.

Spit Bank is smaller.

I've also found No Man's Land and it seems to be the same size as Horse Sand.
