Re: My first day with P3D
How does it compair to FSX? say same flight, weather plane etc? Im still at stock speed on the Q9650 and 8GB RAM and 2x 560ti 2GB with 3 Velociraptors, what i keep specing adds upto about £700 but im also thinking im going to need a new PSU as mine (1000W coolermaster) is getting on abit which would add another £170 for a 1200W. Might have to wait a while for prices to drop and my savings to increase!DaveG wrote:I still use my old faithful Q6600 @ 3.0ghz. Runs P3d fine.

Re: My first day with P3D
Hi Chris,
That will have no problems as it is. The only thing I'd say is that with 1.4 of P3D being released on Monday, we now don't really know how things are going to behave. Once I get 1.4 up and running I'll give you a better idea of how things look, but I doubt you'll have any issues.

Re: My first day with P3D
I'd have to say FPS-wise FSX & P3d are about the same, with the same aircraft, scenery etc loaded, although P3d is noticably smoother.
For me, there are a few niggles with P3d v1.3 that stop it replacing 'X at the moment, but hopefully these will be gone in V1.4.

Re: My first day with P3D
Dave, I haven't compared the frame rates between the two sims, and for me the acid test will be seeing how P3D copes with VFR London when I install it to v1.4. However, I agree; P3D is a lot smoother, but how can that be if not because of better frame rates ? Does P3D achieve that improved smoothness some other way ? Interested to know.DaveG wrote:I'd have to say FPS-wise FSX & P3d are about the same, with the same aircraft, scenery etc loaded, although P3d is noticably smoother.

Re: My first day with P3D
I would love to get my hands on P3D except my download speed here in the sticks is so slow that I would never manage it before Christmas - 2014!
Anyone know of a work around or if Lockheed plan to put out a disc for an extra charge?

Hi Allan,
When 1.4 is released tomorrow I'll copy the files to DVD for you and you can then install it and license it yourself. Send me a PM with your address.

Re: My first day with P3D
Bought my licence yesterday and installed 1.3. I like the way that when you mouse over a slider bar it tells you what you are altering. Don't think much of the default aircraft but I don't use the ones in FS9 either. Can't get my toe brakes to work yet, there seems to be a bug in the Rudder pedals axis.
Using Ricks' Andover, getting FPS around 30, very smooth. I noticed that when you change a setting it takes time for it to manifest itself in the frame rate.
Never been a fan of FSX but I am pleased with this 'version' of it. Off to try and install VFR Airfields now.

Ben
Thank you.
PM sent.
After a week when I had water pouring through the ceiling, the car bonnet catch fail and a nasty smell of electrics burning under the dash; this has gone someway to evening up the tally.
You, Sir, are a star.

Check the sensitivity settings, for some reason they default to an odd value that not all controllers like, certainly worked for me when I had a similar problem on first using P3D.Can't get my toe brakes to work yet, there seems to be a bug in the Rudder pedals axis.
