Hello Mate..

I rarely look for optional updates as I've yet to see anything I wanted or needed. My system is setup to automatically pull crucial/security updates and in that, it is always up to date. Although I've not had IE8 on this system for long, it's likely that unless any subsequent update has been a crucial/security update, I'd not be aware of it. Almost without exception, I accept what MS offers even though most of the time, I've no idea what they're on about

Aha,

I do need to run in "Compatibility mode" to see the logo and your original pic.

I thought this site was bang up to date :-O

Strange one, I'll check my IE8 VM later and find out what version its running as it was working fine on that *-)

Maybe we're so up to date that its only the latest browsers that work - doubt it

I'm on the same version George and have pretty much the same hidden. There are 12 optional updates available (for me) and 2 hardware. One update is to do with Java 5.something-or-other and I have Java 6 installed.. another is to do with add/remove programs. The others are for .net this and .net that :dunno:

My little changing aircraft window was fine until the forum software was updated to accomodate larger pics. Soon after, I saw the changing aircraft window squashed and after that, it went altogether :-O Back now though having clicked on compatability mode :)

I think after one clicks on compatibility mode once, it remembers the setting on subsequent visits.

That must be the case George. Since Ben mentioned it this morning, all has been fine on each subsequent visit ;)

EDIT: I've had a look at compatability mode George. Once you click on it, it stays on. You can, however, add sites to a list so if you come out of compatability mode, I'm guessing that should you visit the site in question again.. it will force compatability mode :)
