Hi Ben
I am pleased to hear that work to mprove the FDE is going on. Perhaps Dai Griffiths might be willing and able to help.
I am not after a procedural trainer, but if it appears from PAD - OK I can deal with that. I much prefer an FS aircraft to fly as close to the real flight characteristics as is possible without having to spend quite as much time as in the real world in preparing that FS acft to fly. Of course other simmers may prefer to run through every single real life check but I just cannot make enough time available for reporting for duty two hours before take off!! As ever each to their own, as long as life does not become too serious. I have absolutely nothing against those who wish to operate as close to real life as is possible in MSFS.

Re: PAD Shorts 360
Any help in the form of a new FD for our S360/330 will be welcomed, either as an optional add-on or as a replacement FD for future downloads. ;-)
We have no access to a S360/330 pilot for testing so the FD was made with 3 criteria in mind, 1. It must fly as close as possible to the published performance figures, 2. It must be pleasant to fly, and 3. The handling must be believable for that size/type of aircraft. Given the constraints of FS9 & FSX and our own limitations as designers it meets these criteria.
As for 'procedures,' our model, and our models in the forseeable future, have about the same cockpit procedures as the FS9/FSX default models. This is not a trainer, it's a fun thing for newbie simmers to enjoy 'straight from the box,' with a half page manual, and with just enough reality to make it interesting for more advanced simmers.
We toyed with the idea of putting a Land Rover in the Sherpa but since it takes as long to make a realistic LR as it does to make a Sherpa, and because of the probable frame rate hit in FSX, we abandoned that idea.
Soooo...enjoy it for what it is guys, no doubt someone will make a better one in the future, but you'll probably have to pay for that.

Thats good enough for me

Going OFFTOPIC here, but I assume the guys here are sick to death of me praising your SOCATA / EADS TB-10 Tobago model, both myself and various other Tobago pilots around the world with an interest in FS have coversed and felt that this is the most accurate representation of this model ever made for FS, beating Lionheart & FSFrance payware models hands down, in regards of familiarity, handling and general aircraft characteristics.
So thank you Bob & Team for keeping this simmer very happy for the past 5 years!!! :prayer:

For Bob May;
Yes, I am for the relatively simple life too and have been very pleased with previous aircraft from PAD.
I have to hand the original sales brochures issued by Shorts for both the 360 and the 330. In addition I have a photocopy from an ancient edition of Jane's all the world's aircraft giving details of th Shorts 330, Shorts 330-UTT, Shorts Sherpa, Shorts 360-300 and 360-300F. But I expect that you have all that information already.
Pity about the Landrover load, not an FS modeller I have no experience of how long it might take to produce a vehicle.
I only use FS9.

Re: PAD Shorts 360
Well I have to admit defeat on trying to improve the FDE for the above acft (cargo version). I cannot get it to fly well. I did find out that all the original PAD wheel radii were wrong and I did manage to improve the ground handling once I had given the main wheels a steering angle of zero and re-sized all the wheels. I immediately let Bob of PAD know about that.
For some reason I cannot get the acft to take off smoothly at 102+ kts unstick speed despite 'rebuilding' the aircraft to JAWA specs and using Jan 1989 "Aviation News" drawings.
The PAD acft is a beautiful model I hope someone can find the answer to make it fly smoothly with the characteristics of the real world acft.

Chaps, I have access to a chap who was on the development team for the 330 and 360 at Shorts. He's not into Flightsim, but may be able to get details for the 330, 360 or Sherpa is there are any details you need? He a great bloke and has found information forn me on some other bits and bobs.
Ben.
