Slug & Lettuce is actually a rather large pub chain, so not really a unique name. We've got two in York.

I had no idea they were a chain outfit. It's about 18 years ago that the pub in Newcastle-under-Lyme changed to the Slug & Lettuce and I seem to remember it only lasted a couple of years before changing name again.

The town where I live, Stalybridge, has the award for the longest and shortest named pubs in the UK.

Most locals refer to it as the Rifleman. I'll pop over there later and take a photo. The sign outside looks bonkers!! :o
