It's preloaded with profiles for most PC games (including fs9 and FSX) and when it installed it found which ones you had on your PC. As soon as the executable file runs (e.g. fs9.exe) it simply tweaks the nVidia card settings to the optimum for that game. It does it automatically so you don't have to do anything else to it.
It'll be interesting to see if you get similar improvements to mine, Tony. Of course, it could be that your card is already tweaked to the optimum. I thought mine was pretty good but it's a lot better now.
BTW. I've been reading about this XP SP3 problem with HP/AMD machines. It appears to be HP's fault because they had inadvertantly loaded Intel software on AMD machines so the update is not compatible. It seems to not be Microsoft's fault - this time!
Cheers
Ian

This is probably the simplest explanation I've read:
http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Desktops-and-N ... -Problems/
It does seem to be an HP problem although there have been unsubstantiated reports of non-HP AMD machines affected.
HP have now released a 'fix' for HP machines:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/gene ... R1002_USEN
And an ex-Microsoft manager has released his own fix for AMD machines:
https://msinfluentials.com/blogs/jesper ... p-sp3.aspx
If you google 'HP AMD XP SP3' you'll find enough reports and opinions to keep you awake for months.
Good luck..
Ian ;-)

Thanks for that link. Of course I only became aware of the fiasco *after* I'd installed SP3.
There were a couple of mods up from HP yesterday, but the drivers in question reside elsewhere on my installation that HP say they do....
Anyway, downloaded the update from HP - but I wonder why I am reluctant to reacitvate windows update?????

Windows update hasn't broken anything on my systems since Windows 2000 SP4! There have been other glitches, but more because of bad practice from other software houses.

Then Mr Dan.. you obviously don't use an HP AMD based system or an AMD based system for that matter

Perhaps you'd not be so cock-a-hoot were this the case ;-)

There have been a few clangers Dan. The best was when they released (was it sp6) for NT. Basicly if you were running Lotus Notes Email system your servers died a horible death. Service pack was withdrawn within the day, then rereleased as SP6a, now that was a monumental cockup when you consider the number of very big companies who ran Notes for email.
