Will be picking it up later today. I know I'll just uhhm and ahhh over it for weeks if I don't so I may as well just bite the bullet.

I'd love to hear what Peter M has to say about the flight dynamics to be completely honest. Although I suppose comparing the alpha set to the modified "Echo" FGA.9 flight dynamics would be a good start and something I intend to do from the word go.

Prehaps Im being blonde

But doesnt anyone else find it ironic that Alpha states they are NOT going to produce anymore British models
due to criticism from this forum - then within three months ends the moratorium by releasing a model that
one of the admins here has released as freeware??? Ah well I will not be parting with my money for this one
I see no point in paying a ridiculous amount of money for something that is already available free

Just my opinion

I think the point was they won't be making any 'niche' models, such as the Scimitar, as they have a very limited market. The Hunter was used by many nations so will probably appeal to a wider market, particularly among the re-painter fraternity. The fact that there is already a freeware model out there doesn't lower the quality of this release, whats wrong with a bit of choice?! Some like freeware, some payware, some both. Why the big issue? And it looks mighty fine in FSX BTW!

At least I'm not alone in thinking £23 is a bit steep! I got Flight Environment X for less than that, which is in use 100% of the time...

I thought I put '...' on, but yes. I'm not too tempted as DaveG's is still so good.

Just did my first flight in it.

External Model...Pretty and fairly accurate but not perfect.

Cockpit...Not a patch on Dave's for realism with many switches incorrectly named and odd fictitious bits...And no tailchute switch on the FGA9. The metal in the cockpit is a rather nasty shiny black.

Flight Model...Well I survived...but not a patch on Echo. The most disappointing was the roll which was very slow and had a most unpleasant roll/yaw couple. Also it was very hard not to get a high speed stall warning in a loop pull up and then the stick needed to go too far forward to unstall.

I quite liked the sound but the spool up from idle was quite a bit slower than the real thing.

Don't know what to do with it really

Nice to see the high speed stall remains (well.. it's not actually!!). I sat with a stopwatch and marks on my monitor to get the rollrate as per on DG's model.. took b1oody ages too. Won't be getting the payware model as I'm to used to seeing my knees at the bottom of the screen. I'm certainly not flying with anyone elses

Could try using Peters modified "Echo" airfile with it I suppose.

If we want them to continue to build the classic Brits, then would it be best to raise these issues in the hope for a fix? I'm sure they'd appreciate the input from somebody who has first hand experience of the Hunter! ;-)

Ah Jonesey.. me thinks that defeats the object a little given Peter's comments :worried:

I'm not a big fan of gloating or I told you so and won't be drawn further on the Alpha release as I've not seen it. I AM however reasonably au fait with DG's release so I'll leave it there. Our good name is not held in high regard 'over there' but I think I'll take the word of a Hunter pilot as 'said' and not buy something in order to add a freeware FD and panel to it.

Edit.. caused by being gazooped at POST..
No Tweek. Why the hell should we raise their game having paid for it first. One would presume they have their own 'experts' and this is what we're paying for.. or have I got that wrong
