Re: Problem with FS2004?

Thanks for the advice on virus protection Ben, however I'm not sure why you should have a go at me for relying on a freeware product that I don't have. AVG do a wide range of anti virus programs and the free version is just the basic one. I am largely house bound and so rely on my PC for shopping, communication, entertainment/hobby etc. My PC is therefore important enough for me to pay out for professional virus protection (not Norton at any cost) which is why I was surprised that a virus got through in the first place. Having tried most products on the market I found that AVG Professional or whatever it is called now, was the best at doing the job. I also get automatic updates to AVG every morning just before my daily virus check takes place.
My OH has suggested that, since both the files infected have been on the PC for some time, that they stayed dormant until it was time for them to activate or the right conditions had been achieved? Both files came from reputable suppliers the Tu-154 via all nodes and the L1011 for FSX, payware from Perfect Flight. That the trojan appeared overnight on 3 separate HDs on the PC is interesting to say the least and indicates that they must have been on the system for some time. How did they evade being recognised? We do a 100% check every week, a daily scan of a selected HD and 100% system scan and defrag every 4th week. Should I perhaps ask my GP to call in and give the PC a flu jab? LOL.
We will just have to take a bit more care that's all until the next time.........................
