Looks like I slightly misunderstood the activating process for P3D. I did check my licence on LM's website and found it said "0" remaining - but having read that it is necessary to ask LM's P3D team to enable reactivation, that info is actually not quite right, as they have informed me:
Hello,

We are sorry for any inconvenience. We have deactivated your original installation and reactivated your license. You should be able to activate like normal.

If you uninstall the software, before making hardware changes or before installing it on a different computer, your license will be automatically deactivated and allow you to reactivate without contacting us.

Let us know if you have any issues or need further support.

Have a wonderful day!
So you get an automatic activation renewal if you uninstall P3D correctly before changing your hardware - it's only if you suffer terminal damage to your PC, preventing uninstalling P3D, that you need to request it from the devs.

Alles klar!

Hi Guys.

I've had P3D running a few weeks now, and it's running pretty good with Horizon's photo scenery. I must say though, I'm not keen on the user interface, as when you start, it takes you straight to the Aircraft on the runway, before you can make your settings. Anyhow, I have a few issues I've so far been unable to resolve. I haven't been bang up to date with this thread, so sorry if any have been covered already.

Firstly, every time my flight loads, the Aircraft's throttle is open and the damn thing has left rudder engaged resulting in a left circuit on the runway! ...how can I stop this?

Secondly, (and this isn't unique to P3D) how can I choose my default Aircraft (when I start a flight).

And lastly (for now I hope) Is it possible to download real world weather? I can't find anything about it in the learning Centre.

Hi Chris, there's a thread over on the Prepar3d forums with a list of the current issues, and the throttle is one of them. It will be fixed in an update. No real world weather in P3D mate, you need a third party weather program. I'm using REX which seems to work well. Lastly, There is an option on the setup screen with a check box that says something like, display this screen at start, or something similar. If you tick the box, when P3D2 starts, it will take you to that menu, rather than straight into the flight :)

Beware that having the aircraft / airport selection screen come up when P3D starts ( as opposed to sitting on the runway in the default flight ) has been causing the sim to black out, leaving you with just the sound effects, and the only way of shutting it down is by using Task Manager. It happened with me and was reported by many others too. LM have fixed it, so they say, and it will be part of v2.05, due out very soon.

I haven't had that either.

In fact, I have had only one crash and could never repeat it. There are occasions where old asm files do funny things, but only very occasionally.

I think most reported problems are with 3rd party addon installers and dll files. I have only Horizon photo-scenery, UK2000 airports and my home-grown additions which I access directly from the same folders as FSX.

Hi George,

one of the source of crashes can be the early versions of Doug Dawsons dsd_xml_sound gauge. I had the VC10 and the pre release Heron crashing with it, so i replaced it for the current version dsd_fsx_xml_sound and haven't had problems. Our tweaked Wisley crashes it too, but i think that may be being caused by one of the models i added after you'd done your magic. :)

Thanks for that, Ben.

Has anyone managed to land the default Piper Cub without it somersaulting? This is with the P-factor set to 'hard' - you have to set it to 'easy' to eliminate this. On landing it veers right, and is a bugger to control, often resulting in it tipping over as counter aileron doesn't seem to have an affect. Can the real thing be as bad??

Just read up on P-factor, gonna try and keep the Cub's tail-wheel well up on the landing run as prop must be vertical to air-flow, to eliminate displaced centre of thrust :)
