Very sad to read this news.
I can only echo the comments posted by others.

Rest In Peace Ian.

Well, what horrible news to read.
I regret deeply not having the pleasure to have met him personally.
A fine fellow in my book.. inviting me to have pizza and beer with him on his couch ( with cats' hairs) .
.. :)

There were a number of things Ian mentioned in this thread that make it a portrait of sorts.

A Honest devoted hard working fun loving chap he was.
And remains so in our hearts.

One post he ..posted.. 8) that particularly stood out that gave me a good belly jiggle was when he said
Thanks, guys. Of course you're right about people having the option to not read my posts. It just hadn't occurred to me that people would have the affrontery not to read a post of mine  It's an outrageous suggestion and I demand names! If I find out who they are. I can slag them off with complete impunity, of course, in the knowledge that they won't read it
 :'(

So long Ian.

Dreadful news. We are all so much the better for knowing him though, even if it was only via this site.

RIP Ian. :'(

Sad news, but a mercifully quick end. Just been reviewing the whole thread. :(

Rest in peace Ian,

I hope the family will take some comfort from the knowledge of the number of friends he made on this Forum who had never met him, myself included.

Regards,

Roger,

He died at 0230, when we are at our lowest ebb. I hope it was quiet and his journey across was filled with peace and love. God bless you Ian, goodnight.

Paul, that is a beautiful epitaph. How can it be possible to miss someone that you have never met? Like Ian, I enjoy getting out on my bike into the countryside occasionally, and although I do it less often than I used to( getting older etc) the next time I ride up into the Pentland hills and hear the sigh of the wind in the trees I'll think of the friend I never met.Sleep well Ian.EricT
Now at the age where I know I like girls but can't remember why!

It is difficult to express the sorrow I feel even though I never met Ian in person. My condolences to his wife, family and friends. He was an inspiration to me and many other here on this site. His bravery and courage was unmatched by anyone I have ever known, Ian has left our shores and left his friends behind, but I am sure there are many more waiting to greet him on the other side. I am also certain they will enjoy his humour as much as we did. OK, I am not sure I believe in an afterlife, but just in case. Rest in peace, Ian, this part of the journey is over and the pain is gone.

One of life's character's. All of us are enriched in some way by spending "time" with him here.

Rest in peace.
