No, but the end result looks the same

OK George.. any ideas why Didcot may not be smokin'? Given the option, it's better to have towers and no steam than steam and no towers but I'd like to have the option :)

I think the steam effects may not work in FSX. My guess is that they are Cool_Tower_* but I can't see any action if I tip them into Arno's FXEditor.

Hello Mate..

Yup.. there are 3 bgls for it.. cooling-tower, Didcot-power and Didcot-power-steam. If you reckon the steam is a dead duck in FSX.. I'll leave it be. Nice to see the towers anyway ;)

DaveB wrote:Well.. I've lost the plot with it mate. In my UK ANO folder, there are masts, pylons and stacks. Unless Didcot is a special case.. it's cooling towers are listed as stacks. Is this version from AVSIM from another planet? :dunno:

"The "S" files do not show in MCX, even in the animation tweaker, so I don't know what they are. The special Cornwall folder seems to not be special, having identical masts". (Me! :$ )

Oh dear, Oh dear! I think we've ALL been guilty of this. I actually read it today and it answers quite a few things. :rtfm:  :$ :$

However, all is not lost......look what happened at OzX, they probably just cycle through the uploads, but it was mind-blowing to see this:

Wait, there's more! Those regular updates for MCX etc seem not to be daily updates. They're not self installing. You need to go into the download and run the relevant MCX, Library creator, etc to update your files, otherwise when you launch, you get told that there's a later version. I downloaded 3 x 6Mb updates before I twigged. :$

Today I came across an FSX ANO file. I'll have a dig and report anything that's not already been done to death.

Maybe I'm reading from a different copy of the pilot's notes?

EXTRACT OF THE README THAT COMES WITH UK ANO
3. If you do NOT have Nick Ryall's excellent Cornwall scenery then move the mast files in the Cornwall folder into the UK_ANO/Scenery folder. If you have Nick's scenery then you should delete the Cornwall folder as it duplicates the masts he has already created..

Omissions and Exclusions
We have not created objects that have already been build for FS and are available on-line. These include:

Fiddlers Ferry power Station - created by Paul Derbyshire
Anthorn masts - available in the Scotflight scenery
Drakelow Power Station - created by Kim Humphreys
Ratcliffe Power Station - created by Kim Humphreys
Rugeley Power Station - created by Kim Humphreys
Didcot Power Station - created by Greg Jones
Oxenhope masts - created by Dale Sedgwick
Humber Bridge
Blackpool Tower
Any central London buildings

Refineries and Petrochemicals Plants are far more prominent than the inclusion of stacks and cooling towers can convey. The omission of Distillation Columns, Crude Furnaces, Cat Crackers, Storage Tanks, etc, is deliberate. We left these items out, in the hope that other scenery designers may be tempted to create more accurate representations of such plants.

Does any of that make sense?

I think you must be Mike. I don't have those files *-) The version Ben pointed to on AVSIM is already an FSX version by the author of the original FS9 files too :dunno:

You up early or late down there Mike? :cpu:
