If you give me the lat/long of the towers, I can find which library they are in. (So long as I can see them ;) )

Hi Chaps,

I've moved this to the Developers corner as its less to do with a heads up on instant scenery and more how to develop bits of scenery using different tools, of which instant scenery is the only commercial one, the rest are free (so far) so this seems a better place to put it. Hope you don't mind Mike :)

Rgr that Ben

George.. easier said than done mate. Looking in the scenery folder, there are over 75 'stack' locations (bgl's) and I can't see any of the ones I've looked at/for.. Didcot, Coventry and Valley. The 'included' SOL contains a library file (ANOlibFSX.bgl) in the scenery folder and a handful of textures in the texture folder. The UK ANO FSX folder only contained a scenery folder with all the mast/pylon/stack bgls (I added a texture folder just in case but it made no difference). The one should reference the other and for the masts, it seems to work fine. No idea why pylons/stacks aren't but the effects.bgl's for them are. This was meant to be easy.. all I wanted was a mast at Sutton Coldfield

Here are two masts near Walsall:

On my system, the models are in ADDON SCENERY\SCENERY\STATIC OBJECTS LIBRARY\Scenery\ANOLibFSX.BGL (there are only 5 models in the library)

Oops, sorry Dave, I misread Towers for Masts :$

Do you know the name of a file containing a tower?

ADDON SCENERY\SCENERY\STATIC OBJECTS LIBRARY\Scenery\ANOLibFSX.BGL
Is that right George? I've only ever had loose stuff in Addon Scenery\Scenery with associated bmp's in Addon Scenery\Texture.. not the SOL. I Have this in Addon Scenery\Static Objects Library and it's activated as an area in Scenery Library *-)

I've no problem seeing the masts but looking at a shot Mike posted, they appear to have ground buildings associated with them. These, I don't see and I don't see them in your shot either :dunno:

When I take off from the common behind my house, I now see the mast at Sutton Coldfield.. looking further north I see the mast at Lichfield and looking further north again.. the BT tower I used from Brum and placed at Pye Green.. just as it should be ;) There are actually 2 small masts not far from the concrete tower at Pye Green (half a mile.. maybe less) but I'm not bothering with them :) I'll have to try and position myself at Walsall to see if I get the same view as you.

EDIT: Pye Green isn't included in the set as it's a tower, not a mast. Shame as there are 12 of these across the country and all of them probably constitute a hazard to pilots.

Back to Ben's dock :)

I don't have the patience to follow this through, but to hide the mesh inside the dock model, it is necessary to add sloping polygons from the top to the bottom on each of the four sides, At the corners, the vertices need to be coincident:

Image

The result of this attempt hides about 3/4 of the mesh inside the the model so the coincident points need to be nudged into place.

An unforseen side-effect is that autogen appears on top of the model :-O

In my UK_ANO_FSX I can see only cooling towers (which I've removed), masts and stacks.

There are a five towers in UK_OBJECTS, four in Birmingham and one in Liverpool.

You've more patience than me George! I take it an exclude over the top of that would kill off the autogen?

All that is necessary is to change the flatten to flatten/exclude autogen, but, since photo-texures normally exclude autogen, I didn't think to add this.
