Regarding what you need the PC to do: Exactly!

Regarding separate machines etc.... well it depends.... ;-)

A whole separate machine just for gaming might be overkill and a mere waste of money.

Then again, if money is not an issue yes, one machine for FS, one for FSX, one for Word, on for Excel.....but it tends to be somewhat crowded ....

That's where the multiple HDD's come in line.... you could have one HDD for the OS, even a couple for various OS'es.... including system specific files/applications like the graphic card(s), sound system etc.

One or two for the game(s) even (RAID-0 perhaps)

One or two for the rest .. RAID -1 for security....

Well the possibilities a enormous...and space is minimal ;-)

Basically, its more obvious with the scenery files etc as they are all fairly large BMP's and this type of arrangement benifits greatly from a larger block size.

It is not easily possible to do this with the boot drive as Windows at install time will automatically use 4k, which is a better "all round" size.

The only way arround this issue (that i know of) is to install the boot drive in another machine, format it at 16K, then when you go to install windows on the drive, don't let it format it.

He has 3 Harddiscs, each very fast themselves, and all setup in a socalled RAID-0 to even tripple the speed roughly said .... don't mind him he's a bugger....

Edit: for those not too familiar with the RAID-term take a look here:

While you're all here arguing over the size and speed of your HD's.. another problem for one of you..

I can't get FSX to multi monitor. On the same system, FS9 works a treat with FSNav (undocked) and on one monitor.. FS9 fullscreen on the other. A prod with a sharp stick much appreciated :poke:

Ben.. that reformatting to a larger cluster size would have been handy on sunday.. when I installed a new 500gb drive formatted to 4k
