Is there a repaint anywhere for that exec one? Looks nice.

I don't know
Someone asked before on an earlier thread which I am sure it was this one in this livery, but perhaps not this reg
Personally I wouldn't do it because of the wrong silencers arrangement.

Hi Garry,
Yes indeed. We know 1-11's were still operating in '97 but the question 'were AirYuk operating them' is less defined. It's possible they used charters.. no idea to be honest. Re the jetpipe arrangement.. I didn't think stage3 was taken up to any large extent due to the cost involved and a quick check reveals only 3 400srs had the work done. I think the price tag of $1.35million per conversion did the trick!
Jonesey..
That paint or one very similar to it was being done.. screenies were posted here as it happens but I can't find the thread

Those are Stage 3 hushkits on the Romanian 1-11 its a fairly good system from what I can gather - I believe produced by Dee Howard - of course when Stage 4 comes along its all over as for any remaining 727/737-22A/DC9s and possibly MD80s

Yes mate

My query 'they don't look like stage 2 either' was another way of saying they were stage3

The work was carried out by QTC so if Dee Howard is QTC, then he did it
Nice looking jet that one. Would love to hear what she sounds like

Yeah I had a feeling that was a reply as to whether a 1-11 was around 1n 1997 where as your question posed an Air UK one

It was indeed, sorry for the confusion. I did a search on airliners.net for bac-1-11 and it seems there are (or where) a few 1-11's still flying as late as - in the case of the exec jet - 2006.
As for the noise, it was the noise we remember most about that particular leg of our journey. Likesay, we just flew into amsterdam from chicago on a very quiet KLM 747. The last leg, from AMS back home to Aberdeen was on this very noisy a/c which i am convinced was a 1-11.
From the replies it quite possible it was a 1-11 if only used as a standby a/c.

There are about 20 flying One-Elevens about sixteen of which are in regular use.
All in all there appeared to be about 25 airworthy and many more in store.
There are three flying in the UK
